Although unprocessed meat can be healthy and nutritious, the
same does not apply to processed meats
Processed meat

Studies show that people


who consume processed
meats have a higher risk of
suffering from many serious
diseases:

Colon cancer, Type 2


diabetes and Heart disease

Meat is a muscle tissue that works as a


support is formed by skeletal muscle,
with varying amounts of fat and
connective tissue

It is muscle tissue, which is consumable


by the population as food.

Canned meats

Meat is a food that has a limited duration and in conservation


techniques we can mention canned products

It is denominated thus, the products of animal or vegetal origin,


duly prepared, placed in containers
hermetic and subjected to a process of commercial sterilization
Importance of meat in food

• Nowadays meat has a very


important role in human nutrition
since it is a nutritious food and
gives us good health.

• Meat is one of the most important


sources of proteins that can be
found in different types of food.

The flesh provides our body with


nutrients:

Water: between 60 - 80% of its


weight.

Proteins: it has 20 - 25% and comes


basically from muscle tissue

biological and nutritional value that
provides us with energy.
Pig cattle

• Pork contains macronutrients,


depending on the age of the animal's
slaughter, the type of food and the
piece of consumption as well as the
meat of livestock. It has a great
biological value.
Nutritional information of the meat

Fats: it has 15% and 20% meat and most of the


fat is saturated.
Vitamins: contains B12 vitamins and the calf
consists of B2.
Water: since the meat has 15% to 20% the rest
is water.
Proteins has around 20%.
Calories: depend on the way that meat is
cooked.
