Oceans

 There are 5 oceans. They are pacific (covers 1/3 of Earth), Indian, Atlantic, Artic
and Southern.
 Oceans separate the 7 continents.
 Oceans move in a certain way.
 A current is the flow of the ocean in a specific direction
 Tides are the high and low waves in the oceans.
 When the tides are high, lands could get covered in water.
 71 Percent of the Earth is covered in Oceans!
Bays

 Bays are found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.


 Bays provide harbors where ships can dock.
 An example includes the Chesapeake bay between Maryland and Virginia.
 The largest bays along the Gulf Coast are Galveston Bay in Texas and Tampa Bay
in Florida.
Gulfs

 Gulfs are the largest inlets.


 The largest Gulf bordering the US is the Gulf of Mexico.
 Another example is a Gulf of Alaska
Inlets!

 It is an area of land extending into land from a larger body of water.


Lakes

 North America has the most lakes.


 The largest lakes in North America are the Great Lakes which are along the
border of US and Canada.
 The Great Lakes are Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario.
 One fifth of all fresh water lakes are found in Great Lakes.
 Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake.
 Not all lakes contain fresh water. The Great Salt Lake in UTAH is as salty as an
ocean or sea.
Rivers

 Rives are bodies of fresh moving water!


 They begin at source and end at mouth.
 The river empties water into another ocean or water body.
 Rivers carry water away from land.
