I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate understanding of shapes, colors, and the principles of contrast and
harmony through the use of paper collage.
2. Create paper collage using the elements and principles of arts.
3. Appreciate the elements and principles of art in making paper collage.

II. Subject Matter

III. Procedure:

Let’s start this discussion by knowing
collage.

“A collage is an art production in which

several materials are put together, to
form a new work of art. Collage
originated from the French word “coller”
which means “to glue”

“Through art, we can express what is on

our mind and even our emotions or
feelings.

“There are many kinds of collage but

today let us tackle about paper collage”

“Paper collage is a technique of an art

production where the artwork is created
using an assemblage of different forms
and shapes using paper.”

“Assemblage is a collection or gathering

of things or people.

Elements of Art

Color is produce when light strikes and

Principles of Art

Contrast emphasizes differences

between the art elements.

Contrast of shapes-free form/geometric,

different styles and sizes of shapes.

Contrast of color- color opposite with

each other on the color wheel that
considered being complementary colors
(ex. red and green).

Harmony is visually satisfying effect of

combining similar, related elements.

Harmony of shapes- A combination of

lines results in shapes. The most
harmonious shape that can be put into a
rectangle is another rectangle of the
same shape and a circle makes the
closest harmony with another circle

Harmony of colors- refers to the

property that certain aesthetically
pleasing color combinations have. These
combinations create pleasing contrasts
and consonances that are said to
be harmonious.
