Single Regeneration Budget in 1995) has created
both employment and improvements in the built
environment across the inner city. Including the
Trafford Park Urban Development Corporation in
1987, and the New East Manchester Plan in 2000

Urban re-imaging:
The city authorities have sought to distance
Manchester from its old image of cotton mills,
industrial grime, etc. and reposition the city as a
happening place which, of course, helps it attract
new investment, including culture, music and sport
