BAR GRAPH

-
WHAT IS A BAR GRAPH?

-A bar graph is a graph with bars. The

higher/longer the bar the greater the value. It is
consisted of 2 axes the y axis and the x axis the x
axis is also called the horizontal axis and the y axis
is also called vertical axis.
TYPES OF BAR GRAPH:
VERTICAL BAR GRAPH

- A vertical bar graph is the most common type of

bar graph , useful when presenting a series of data its
vertical axis is the dependent variable and the
horizontal axis as its independent variable the
difference of a vertical graph to other graphs is that it
has spaces between each category along the
x axis.
EXAMPLE OF A VERTICAL BAR GRAPH:

This example shows the nicest fruit according to a survey and

in a glance grapes is the least liked.
HORIZONTAL BAR GRAPH:

- The horizontal bar graph is like the vertical bar

graph but the categories are on the y axis instead of the
x axis and a discrete value on the x axis and unlike the
vertical bar graph the horizontal bar graph has more
space if the name of the category is long.
Example of horizontal bar graph:
STACKED BAR GRAPH:

- Can hold a lot of information , Each bar in the

chart represents a whole, and segments in the bar
represent different parts or categories of that whole.
Different colors are used to illustrate the different
categories in the bar.

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGE
S
• summarize a large • often require additional
data set in visual explanation
form. • fail to expose key
• clarify trends better assumptions, causes,
than do tables. impacts and patterns
• estimate key values • can be easily
at a glance. manipulated to give
false impressions
