• Two ATP used to activate glucose (C6), which
splits into two G3P molecules (C3).

• Oxidation of G3P; NAD+ picks up H+ and
electrons and becomes NADH.
• Additional chemical changes lead to direct
substrate-level ATP synthesis, formation of
four ATP.
