 Package Programme.
 Launched in Kharif season in 1960.
 Assumption was that food
greater production.
 Overall economic betterment.
 Programme was divided into 2 phases:
Planning and implementation stage.
 Planning stage: Farm plans were prepared
and all necessary inputs were made
available to the selected farmers.
 Seven district were selected named
 West Godavari in AP,
 Shahabad in Bihar,
 Tanjore in Tamil Nadu,
 Raipur in MP,
 Ludhiana in Punjab;
 Pali in Rajasthan; and
 Aligarh in UP
 The programme was later expanded to cover
30 district.
 Highly successful.
 Area approach in 1964.
 1084 blocks frm 114 districts.
 1410 blocks-1966-67.
 Large production of area in the
cropped country.
 Possessing adequate potential
was brought
production
under
efforts. intensive production
 Programme was started in 1966.
 Balanced fertilizers, irrigation, plant
protection, improved implements.
 Programme was initially aimed at Agricultural
crops, it soon spread to other allied areas
like diary, poultry, fisheries and sericulture.
 Scale neutral: Increase in production
following adoption of these verities is not
dependent upon the size of farm.
 Not Resource neutral: Requires more
resources and inputs and are costlier to
cultivate.
 Benefited to rich farmers and has increased
the gap between small n large farmers.
 TOT programe of ICAR.
 Implemented through KVKs, SAUs, ZRC.
 Aims to generate appropriate technologies by
assessing and refining innovations generated
by scientist.
Objectives:
 To introduce technologies suitable for small
production systems.
 To introduce environmental
friendly technologies.
 To integrate enhanced productivity
with market systems.
 To facilitate adoption of
appropriate value added post harvest
technologies.
 To monitor socio-economic impact
of developed technologies.
 To facilitate the adoption of labour saving
technologies.
 World bank aided project being implemented
by ICAR and Dept. of Ag since 1998.
Two main objectives:

research institutions and experts.
 Develop models for improved technologies
dissemination system.
 Seven states were selected for the
project.
