•The most common form of painting.
•Involves applying color to a board or canvas that
is fixed on an upright support called Easel.
• Easel paintings were known to the Ancient Egyptians,
and the 1st century AD Roman scholar Pliny the Elder
refers to a large panel placed on an easel

•In 1980's, artists used murals to impart social
awareness on some issues at that time.
• Murals are created by younger artists through outreach
programs carried out by organizations.

An attempt to make 3,770 meters of
peace mural along the major national
highway in Manila, which considered to
be the longest peace mural in the world
surpassing the Guinness record Chile
Wall of Peace which is only 1,000
meters. The project A journey of peace
was started May 26th, 2013 with several
peace advocates groups including the
Armed Forces of the Philippines.
