PAINTING
Painting – refers to the
applying color on a flat
surface.
Varieties that can be used in painting:
• Water color
• Acrylic
• Ink oil
• Pastel
• charcoal
Water color - made with a
water-soluble binder such as
gum arabic, and thinned
with water rather than oil,
giving a transparent color.
Acrylic - is fast drying paint
containing pigment
suspension in acrylic
polymer emulsion.
Ink oil - a colored
fluid used for
writing, drawing,
printing, or
duplicating.
Pastel - a paste made of
powdered pigment ranging
from pale to deep colors
and used for making
crayons also : a crayon
made of such paste.
Charcoal- is a black
crumbly drawing material
made of carbon and often
used for sketching and
under-drawing for
paintings, although can also
be used to create more
finished drawings.
Surfaces that can be used in painting:
• Wood
• Canvas
• Cardboard
• Paper
Forms of
Painting
Easel Painting
• The most common form of
painting.
• It is meant to be framed or
hanged on a wall after
creating them.
• Easel is a upright support
for canvas.
Mural Painting
• huge wall – sized painting
• Portable murals was created by
using bold strokes in applying
bright colors on pieces of
cheesecloth or canvas.
Telon Painting
• Described as a backdrop or background for
the stage.
• It is used for komedya, sarwela, and
siankulo
• The telon is still used in presentations during
fiestas, carnivals and religious celebrations
Kalesa Painting
• The calesa is typically painted
using one color.
• The borders of the calesa are
decorated with geometric
patterns, repetitive patterns, and
or / thin lines.
Jeepney Painting
• It evolves from calesa
painting.
• In a typical jeepney, a logo,
number, or painting is
covered near the seats
adjacent to it.
Collage
• Form of painting that
involves combine images
in a single artwork.

Genre Painting
• It portrays people in daily
activities.
• It include planting,
harvesting, a young
woman singing in front of
guests, barong – barong,
vendors, and fiestas.
Historical painting
• It depicts the scenes
from the past.
• It often has a lesson
concerning national
values.
Interior
• It refers to painting
of the space inside of
a part of the house or
a building.
Landscapes
• It portray natural
scenery or urban
scenes.
• Seascapes, which
focus on the large
bodies of water.
Portraits
• Refers to a painting
portraying one or more
individuals.
• This usually portrays the
physical characteristics of
the subjects.

man – made objects
that form a
composition natural
setting.
