Tornadoes
Are funnel shaped clouds
which is dangerous, and it
lands on the earth's land
How they form
Most tornadoes form from thunderstorms. Warm, and
moist air from the  Gulf of Mexico and cool,  dry air from
Canada  helps them to form. When these two air masses
meet, they create instability in the atmosphere. ... Rising air
within the updraft tilts the rotating air from horizontal to
vertical. - Source: Weather Whiz Kid
Area's impacted
Tornadoes can happen
everywhere. But, here is an
area known as "Tornado
Alley", is an area heavily
impacted by tornadoes.
It includes these states: South
Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas,
Oklahoma, and Texas.
Tri-State Tornado
The "Tri-State Tornado" is the most dangerous and
deadliest tornado in history. The tornado killed 695 people
and injured 2,027 others in Southern Missouri, Illinois and
Indiana in 1925. This tornado

Hurricanes
Are storms with a
violent wind, in
particular a tropical
cyclone in the
Caribbean.
How they form
For one to form, there needs to be warm ocean water and
moist, humid air in the region. When humid air is flowing
upward at a zone of low pressure over warm ocean water, the
water is released from the air as creating the clouds of the
storm. As it rises, the air in a hurricane rotates. - Source:

Galveston
Storm/Hurricane
The Great Galveston Storm which happened in 1900, was the
DEADLIEST AND MOST DANGEROUS hurricane in
history. This hurricane killed 6,000 to 12,000 people.- Source:

QUICK FACT ON
HURRICANES
In hurricanes, there is warmer air which means more
evaporation and precipitation. That's why here in Wayne
County, it floods a lot during most hurricanes because of the
heavier rain.- Source: Spectrum News 1 of North Carolina,

Blizzards
Blizzards
Blizzards
A blizzard is a storm which
produces lots and lots of
snow!
How they form
There are two ways that moist air might rise over cold air. Winds
pull cold air toward the equator from the poles and bring warmer,
moist air toward the poles from the equator. When warm air and
cold air are brought together, a front is formed and snow
can form.- Source: https://scied.ucar.edu/
Area's impacted
In the United States, blizzards are common in the upper Midwest
and the Great Plains but occur in most areas of the country
except for the Gulf Coast and the California coast. Blizzards can
occur all over the world, even in the tropics where it is cold on
high altitude mountaintops.-Source: scied.ucar.edu/
The Iran Blizzard
The Iran Blizzard of February 1972 was the deadliest blizzard
in history. A week-long period of low temperatures and severe
winter storms, lasting 3–9 February 1972, resulted in the deaths
of approximately 4,000 people.- Source: www.wikipedia.org

Floods
A flood is an overflow of water that submerges land that is
usually dry. In the sense of "flowing water", the word may also
be applied to the inflow of the tide. Floods are an area of study
of the discipline hydrology and are of significant concern in
agriculture, civil engineering and public health. - Source :

How they form
How floods form. A flood occurs when water inundates land
that's normally dry, which can happen in a multitude of ways.
Excessive rain, a ruptured dam or levee, rapid melting of snow or
ice, or even an unfortunately placed beaver dam can overwhelm a
river, spreading over the adjacent land, called a floodplain.-

Area's impacted
River floodplains and coastal areas are the most susceptible
to flooding, however, it is possible for flooding to occur
in areas with unusually long periods of heavy rainfall.
Bangladesh is the most flood prone area in the world.
Bangladesh is vulnerable due to presence of a monsoon season
which causes heavy rainfall.- Source: www.n-d-a.org
The China Floods
On August 18, 1931, the Yangtze River in China peaks during a
horrible flood that kills 3.7 million people directly and indirectly
over the next several months. This was perhaps the worst natural
disaster of the 20th century.- Source: www.history.com

Droughts
Are a shortage of water
from rivers, lakes, and
streams.
How they form
Droughts happen when there is not enough rain for a long period
of time. It's not like a dry spell - there is so little precipitation
(rain, snow, sleet or any kind of moisture) that a whole region
starts to dry out. Sometimes a drought takes decades to develop
fully and they are very difficult to predict.- www.bbc.co.uk
Area's impacted
Area's impacted by droughts are places like
Nevada where there are desert areas.
The Dust Bowl Period
Also known as the "Dirty Thirties," the Dust
Bowl period was the most destructive drought the
United States has ever faced. According to the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA), at least 50,000,000 acres of land were
affected.- Source: www.livescience.com
The aftermath
Weather Short Story:
"Bing", "Plang", "Crash", that is the sound of thunder. "Oh no" I say. I look
outside and the wind is blowing hard. I turned on the TV to the weather and saw
that Hurricane Delta is coming soon! I then ducked down. Why? There was a
tornado. Luckily, a small one. I called my friend who lives in Arizona and he said
where he lives there was a very bad drought. I told him "In my state, there is lots
of flooding." Thank GOD that the flooding wasn’t bad in Wayne County. But
then, my friend Cameron who lives in Alaska said that he had a blizzard, he said
"I love the snow, BUT NOT THIS MUCH SNOW!!!!". But above all of that,
during a global pandemic, I prayed for it all to go away.

THE END.
