Islamic Development Bank

• The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) ( ‫ ) البنك اإلسالمي للتنمية‬is a multilateral development


finance institution that is focused on islamic finance located in Jeddah, Saudi
Arabia. 

• It was founded in 1973 by the Finance Ministers at the first Organization of the
Islamic Conference with the support of the King of Saudi Arabia at the time (Faisal),
and began its activities on 3 April 1975.
• The present membership of the Bank consists of 57 countries.
• The basic condition for membership is that the prospective member country should
be a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, pay its contribution to the
capital of the Bank and be willing to accept such terms and conditions as may be
decided upon by the IDB Board of Governors.

o IDB, IRTI, ICD, ICIEC and ITFC.
IDB has some visions and missions.

IDB Group is engaged in a wide range of specialized and integrated activities such as:

• Economic and trade cooperation;
• Trade financing, SME financing;
• Resource mobilization;
• Direct equity investment;
• Research and training programs;
• Awqaf investment and financing;
• Special assistance and scholarships.
IDB and Bangladesh
• Our finance minister is the representative of IDB Bangladesh.
• Agreement on fuel oil with 5.5% interest rate.
• For Fast Internet Service made an agreement of 351 crore.
• IDB and Bangladesh made covenant of 373 crore for Rural Housing Project.
