What do these all

things share in common?
All of them symbolize
change-change which has
kept on its fast-paced
advancement as time goes
by, as new generation
comes in.
Let’s now have a glimpse
both with the traditional and
modern ways of teaching.
TRADITIONAL
WAY OF
TEACHING
TRADITIONAL
A. Teacher-centric classrooms Teacher
provides all the pieces of information
inside the classroom.
TRADITIONAL
 B.Teachers Being Knowledge Dispensers Rather
than Facilitators Some teachers would (most
often than not) do all the work for their students
like giving all the resources where one could find
the answer to his or her research and/ or
assignment.
TRADITIONAL
 C. Chalk and Talk methods In a typical classroom,
much of the time is being spent writing on the
blackboards being copied by the students which
will then be followed by the explanation of the
teacher ( to what has been written).
TRADITIONAL
D. Lack of collaboration and group learning.
Group presentation is less practiced. A
student is trained to be doing the homework
herself or himself only
TRADITIONAL

E. More Focus on Examinations and Results

rather than Understanding of Concepts
Some are accustomed to be “test -paper result
-oriented”.
MODERN
WAY OF
TEACHING
MODERN
A. Technology-Driven classrooms
Topics are being discussed through
PowerPoint and video presentations.
MODERN
B. Collaborative Learning
Students are encouraged to
participate in the discussion.
MODERN
 C. Integrative and Social Responsibility and Civic
Engagement Nowadays, most of the schools require the
participation of the students in various social activities in a
certain community like helping in the cleanliness of the
barangays and taking some time in sharing knowledge or
other pieces of information to the children who do not have
access to formal education.
MODERN
D. Project-based Learning At the end of
the course, students are required to
submit a thesis, oral or writ ten report, or
a port folio of a specific subject matter.
MODERN
E. Peer Teaching/ Monitoring First year
students, for instance, are being given
academic support by more-trained third
year and fourth year students on a
targeted subject matter.
