                             ABSTRACT

 In the modern age Brushless DC motors are widely used in domestics as well as many
industrial applications. BLDC have salient features such as high efficiency, high torque
and compact size.
 Growing need for high productivity is placing new demands on mechanisms connected
with electrical motors. Therefore, it need to develop Brushless DC (BLDC) controller
with less complexity and cost-effective.
      INTRODUCTION

 The aim of the project is to control the speed of a BLDC motor using a
microcontroller .  A brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive is characterized by higher
efficiency, lower maintenance, and higher cost.
  Therefore, it is necessary to have a low-cost but effective BLDC motor controller.
Based on the principle of PWM, speed of the motor can be controlled

Features of 8051 Microcontroller

An 8051 microcontroller comes bundled with the following features −

4KB bytes on-chip program memory (ROM)
128 bytes on-chip data memory (RAM)
Four register banks
128 user defined software flags
8-bit bidirectional data bus
16-bit unidirectional address bus
32 general purpose registers each of 8-bit
16 bit Timers (usually 2, but may have more or less)
Three internal and two external Interrupts
Four 8-bit ports,(short model have two 8-bit ports)
16-bit program counter and data pointer
PRINCIPLE OF BLDC MOTOR

 Frequency inverter used as Commutator

 Commutation depends on the rotor position.
 Speed control by motor voltage.
 Angle between mmfs of a stator and rotor is fixed to 90 degree.
 Motor behaves like a DC motor.
 No commutation occurs on spinning shaft.
