WHAT IS NATURAL GAS?
• Mixture of gases which are rich in
hydrocarbons.
• Found deep inside the earth near
other solid & liquid hydrocarbon
beds like coal and crude oil.
NATURAL GAS EXTRACTION

• Natural gas is extracted both on land

and offshore.
• In more recent deposits, the gas is often
forced upward out of the drill hole by
natural pressure.
HOW IT WORKS?

•It can be wet containing

mostly methane
•It can be dry containing
ethane and butane
HOW IT WORKS?
•Electricity generation is one
of the primary uses for
natural gas. Gas turbines and
boiler power plants are the
two most common methods.

• The deposits of natural gas and other
minerals were reportedly discovered in
Cagayan Valley, Philippines.
• There were actually six types of mineral
gas at an island in Luzon according to
the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth
Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)
and Korea Institute of Ocean and
Science Technology (KIOST) based on
the report.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
It’s environmentally friendly It’s highly combustible

Safer and easier to store, by Non-renewable energy

far source

Natural gas is reliable Natural gas is a source of

violence and terrorism
Natural gas is in bountiful
supply Natural gas emits some
quantities of greenhouse gas
RENEWABLE OR NON-RENEWABLE
Natural Gas is an example of a non-
renewable resource because the time it
was used by power plants, it is not
replaced overnight, it takes thousands or
million years to form another source of
natural gas for it comes originally from
decomposed animals and plants that
produce natural gas.
