Flexibility at workplace is all about when, where and how people work.

Flexibility is about an employee and an employer making changes to when,

where and how a person will work to better meet individual and business needs.

Flexibility enables both individual and business needs to be met through

making changes to the time (when), location (where) and manner (how) in
which an employee works.
Introduction
Flex time: work schedules starting earlier or later than a department’s standard business hours, but
still including the same number of hours per day or week as the standard schedule.
•Compressed work weeks/alternative schedules: working full-time hours in fewer than five days per
week, or in fewer than 10 days per two-week period.
•Telecommuting: working from home or a remote location.
Flexibility is when workers engage in work-related tasks(flextime, schedule flexibility, compressed
work weeks, etc.) or where workers engage in work-related tasks (flex-place, telecommuting, virtual
office, mobility, etc.) but have not explored how these types of flexibility interact together.

Criteria for approval of FWA

•Arrangement must meet business/production needs. The arrangement must support
department/production goals, including productivity, cost effectiveness, employee retention and service
to internal and external clients.•Approval should also be based on employee’s job performance. Can tie
into performance goals. Take into account the individual’s work style and work history.
WHY EMPLOYERS NEED
WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY?
 Organizations with higher levels of employee satisfaction are able to recruit
and retain valuable and engaged employees who are less stressed and more
committed and productive, which in turn leads to more satisfied customers,
higher profits, and a better return for shareholders.

Happy and satisfied employees, who have a greater sense of trust and loyalty will create many
business benefits such as:
1. Attracting skilled and motivated employees
2. Keeping skilled and motivated employees (retention)
3. Motivating and energizing staff
4. Increasing employee satisfaction
5. Lower staff absences
6. Increased skills and creativity of your managers
7. Improving customer service and retention
Examples of Workplace flexibility
Examples include making exceptions for unforeseen family circumstances and
personal needs, or allowing employees to do part of their work at home.
Organizations which implement workplace flexibility may enjoy benefits such as
increased employee productivity, trusted loyalty for both the employer and the
employee, and a higher quality of life for all parties involved.
With improved retention and an investment in employee morale, companies can
gain a competitive advantage by giving employees more flexibility.
