Definition of KPI’s

Effectiveness :
 Availability : K1 = "closure" rate = B1* / A
K1 = time when the line is closed (planned stoppage but not for maintenance)
(lack of orders, strikes, other unproductive time)
/ Calendar time
This KPI is not really in S2 process, but should be followed in order to
check that the planned unavailability of the line corresponds to the
real commercial load.

 Reliability : WR = Working Ratio = D / C

WR = Productive Working Time / Available Time
The WR is sometimes difficult to interpret because is a collective KPI

KI = Breakdown ratio for internal reasons = D1internal / C

= Unplanned Stoppage time of the line for internal reasons / Available
Time
This sub KPI reflects more the intrinsic reliability of the line

Definition of KPI’s

Efficiency :
 Planned maintenance : K2 = Planned Maintenance Ratio = C1* / A
K2 = Time when the line is stopped for planned maintenance
(included Annual shutdown and Major relines/overhaul)
/ Calendar Time
not to be confused with "planned maintenance ratio" of the GTB : K2 includes the annual
shutdown
 Repairs & Maintenance Cost : €/T HRCeq.
€/RAV  E3

2
Definition of KPI’s

• KI : Internal stoppage Ratio (= D1internal / C)

= Unplanned stoppages for Internal
reasons (Operation, Maintenance, Quality, …)
/ available time
• KM : Maintenance stoppage Ratio (part of KI :
D1maintenance / C)
= Unplanned stoppages for Maintenance
reasons
/ available time

3
Definition of KPI’s

• KP: Internal stoppage ratio not due to

maintenance (= KI – KM)
= Unplanned stoppages for reasons ≠
maintenance
/ available Time
• KE : External stoppage Ratio (= D1external / C)
= Unplanned stoppages for External
causes (Upstream, Downstream, External…)
/ available time

4
Definition of KPI’s

• UWR : Unproductive Working Ratio (=D2 / C)

(generally fatal ratio for the line but can
be challenged)
= Stoppages for planned change of tools
(CC moles or segments, work rolls in
HSM, …), setup or waiting time when change
of products, …
/ available time

5
Definition of KPI’s

• MTBF : Mean Time Between Failure (= Temps/

Nb Pannes)

• MTTR : Mean Time To Repair ( durée

moyenne des pannes )
Dépend de la présence ou non d’une pièce
de rechange, de la compétence , de
l’adaptation de l’outillage …
