READY MIX CONCRETE
Concrete whose constituents are mixed either at Batching plant
or in Transit mixer and transported to the construction site for
delivering in usable/workable condition to use is termed as
Ready Mix Concrete.
RMC is very versatile and popular. In this technology the
batching and mixing of concrete is not done on site.
Ready mixed concrete is also called as Pre-Mixed Concrete.

In ready mixed concrete different admixture are added to change

the properties of concrete according to need.
Like accelerators, retarders, air entrained, plasticizers and super
plasticizers.
This techniques enables the places of manufacture and use of
concrete being separated and linked by a suitable transport
operation.
PURPOSE OF READY MIX CONCRETE
This techniques is useful in congested site or at diverse works and save
consumer from botheration of procurement, storage and handling of
concrete material.

The cost of ready mix concrete may be little bit higher than site mixed
concrete but it save time of supervision and checking of quality of
materials.

The proportioning is done to obtained an economical and practical

combination of materials to produce concrete with desired properties.

RMC ordered according to the mentioned design by purchaser or

mentioned strength.

If design is specify by purchaser than manufacturer will be responsible

for the strength, but if strength level is specified by purchaser than
manufacturer is responsible for the design.

The design must meet the required strength.

 CATEGORIES OF RMC
1. Central mixed concrete
2. Transit mixed concrete
3. Shrink mixed concrete

1. Central mixed concrete:-

In this type of manufacturing of concrete in which both proportionally batching and
mixing is done at the batching plant than discharge into trucks/truck mixer to deliver it to site
for use.
This is also termed as wet batched or pre-mix plant. There are different type of batching plant.

2. Transit mixed concrete:-

In this type of manufacturing of concrete the concrete is only proportionally batched at the
batching plant than discharge into transit mixer/truck mixer and transported it to site, and
before reaching the construction site the transit truck start revolve to mix the concrete
then deliver to site for use.
1. Shrink mixed concrete:-
In this type of manufacturing of concrete in which partially mixing is done at batching plant and
and than discharge into trucks/truck mixer to complete the mixing in mixer then deliver it
o site for use.
