 HIMACHAL PRADESH
• Himachal Pradesh is blessed with a rich flora and fauna that graces the land with grandeur
and majesty.
o Snow Leopard
Home to an extremely hostile habitat of mountain ranges,
the snow leopard is a powerful predator. It is the state animal of Himachal Pradesh.
o Pink Rhododendron
Origanally Rhododendrons are natives of Asia but Pink rhododendreon is rare. It is only
found close to the treeline in the high ranges. It is the state flower of Himachal Pradesh.
o Himayalan Yak
Standing 6 feet tall at the shoulder, the massively built yak is a long haired bovine found
in the higher Himalayan region. Yak serve as the beast of Spiti,Lahaul and the parts of Chamba.
o Monal
Found in forested tracts in the north-western Himalayan belt, the Monal pheasant is known for
its bright plumage. This pheasant can be spotted in the higher reaches of Shimla , Kinnaur ,
Kangra , Kullu and Chamba mountains.
 Kerala
• Kerala is known for its scenic beauty and green ambience. The green rich landscape of this
destination also blessed with a wide range of flora and fauna
o Nilgiri Tahr
The Nilgiri tahr is an ungulate that is endemic to Nilgiri Hills in Kerala. It is the state animal
of Tamil Nadu.
o NeelaKurunji Flowers
Neelakurinji is a shrub that is found in the Kerala. Nilgiri Hills got their name from
the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurunji that blossoms only once in 12 year
o Coconut
Coconut trees plays an important role in economic and culture in Kerala. Kerala is actually
named after the coconut tree with “kera” meaning coconut tree and “alam” meaning
Land of coconut tree.
o Elephant
Elephant found in Kerala are one of the recognized subspecies of Asian elephant. As the
State animal, the elephant is featured on the emblem of the government of
Kerala state.
