Maintenance of academic infrastructure and
facility
 Maintenance of academic infrastructure and facilities
are mainly done by the internal staff. Institute has 35 IV
class employees, one carpenter, one plumber, two
electrician and
 two supervisor with one Compliance Executive and
enough employees for technical support. However,
there are some facilities that are outsourced.
Maintenance of the campus
 infrastructure and facilities as mentioned below:

 Maintenance of academic infrastructure and


facilities are mainly done by the internal staff.
Institute has 35 IV class employees, one
carpenter, one plumber, two electrician and

However, there are some facilities that are
outsourced. Maintenance of the campus
 infrastructure and facilities as mentioned below:
Hostel (boys and girls), transportation facility, and
canteen

 The Institute is located in the western


suburbs of Mumbai and has limited hostel
facility because most of students are day
scholars and Institutional statistics for
hostel show that there is hardly any
requirement. Demands for hostel for four
years is shown in Table 8.2

Transportation facility
 The institute is situated in the heart of western suburbs of
Mumbai city and is well connected by road/rail to all parts of
Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and other satellite towns.
 Public transport such as buses, autos and trains are available
24×7. Besides public transport, large number of students and
employees use their own bikes / four wheeler for travel.
 College canteen has 171.sq.m are on the ground floor and
kitchen area is 7.0 x 6.55) 45 sq.m. Enough seating
arrangement is available for faculty, staff and students.

 The canteen serves a wide variety of regional foods, fast
foods and beverages on reasonable cost. In addition there are
food stalls which are run by the students of the campus
 canteen open space is 271 sq.m with two shades. Facilities in
canteen includes: drinking water-5 taps, service counter,
payment counter, elevated plateform etc.
 The canteen has spacious 144 and 28 seating capacity for
students and teachers respectively.
Transportation facility Cont…
 as a part of TEG-EDC initiative. In future there may be the
food outlets of popular food chain and will be the additional
facilities in the campus. Moreover, because of the central
 location in the western suburbs, there are lot of restaurants
and food outlets, food court around the campus.
 Safety – fire extinguisher, 2- camera installation
Electricity, power backup, telecom facility, drinking
water, and security

 Electrical Supply:
 The Institute’s power supplier is TATA Power and the Institute
has service level agreements for uninterrupted power supply.
In the event of power failure, generator supply is
 available to meet the exigency. The electrical installation
safety measures are as per the regulation. There are 2
Substations in the campus. Further Table 8.4 below lists the
 sanctioned load for the Institute. One of the substation is
acting as stand by arrangement and automatic switch over of
the bay will take place in case of any emergencies
Electricity, power backup, telecom facility, drinking

 The supply is uninterrupted and there is no loadsheding. On
special occasion if load requirement is more we send a letter to
TATA Power with the request for the arrangement power backup
generator (DG set). Since inception i.e.A.Y.2001-02 there is no
major power failure. One incident is worth to quote on 26th July
2006 when there was blackout in
 Mumbai in the area of Reliance Energy /Best supplies because of
flood in Mumbai, in that situation also there was no shut down
from TATA power which shows the reliability and the quality of
service of TATA power
 Types of cables used: Under Ground Cables, Aluminum armed 3
Phase with neutral
 Cable Sizes : 240/ 320 Sq.mm to 6 Sq.mm
Power Backup
 In case of emergency or special occasion Tata
Power provide portable DG set on request.
 Additional power back up is UPS in server room
with ½ hr backup to ensure consistency in data
backup. UPS in also available for EPABX with PRI
line with 150 intercom
 connection. At present there are 56 lines of
intercom on all floors and spread over five floor
and ground floor. In case of failure of electric
supply communication will remain intact.
Telecom facilities
 Siemens Hipath 3800 digital ISDN communication system , real time IP
system.
 Facilities DID & DOD (direct inward dialing and direct outward dialing)
 100 lines will work as direct line. Digital lines are more secure & negligible
downtime. At present 5 direct lines are used.
 Each line has a bandwidth of 64 kbps against 9kbps of analog line.
Dedicated account measure
 One telefax machine with STD/ISD connectivity.
 Two portable tata phone with local /STD call facilities
 One MTNL tri-band line with tel. 28461891
 Five staff members are allotted * Number (e.g. *7000, *7001 .........) to get
fast access on their mobile through intercom.
Drinking water connection
 Institute has two underground storage tank, one for
Bhiranmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) water (drinking
water) with a capacity of 1.5 lakh litre and second one with 2
 lakh litre for boring water of BMC water. 2 overhead tank for
boring water with storage capacity of 40,000 litres each
(Boring) and 30,000 litres (BMC) . It is fitted with 4 motor
 for pumping water from underground tank to overhead tank.
Each floor is provided with two water coolers with purifiers.
Water cooler cleaning is done on call basis by local
 vendor of Aquaguard purifier or Blue Star.

 Water tank cleaning is done quarterly by New Technical High Power
Pressure Jet Machines and the AMC is outsourced to Anjali Aqua Services.
The following procedure is carried out for cleaning of water tank:
1. High-Pressure fresh water spraying jets are used to remove all unwanted
elements from all the areas of tanks
2. Addition of detergent and chemicals in the tank proportionately according
to the capacity of tanks
3. Scrubbing of internal portion of tanks through Fibre Foam Brush
4. Washing through new technical of pressurised jet pumps
5. Removing of all duster water from the tanks
6. Spraying of drinking water through pressurized jt pumps
7. Cleaning through the soft touch sponge.
Security

 Security arrangements and services for the secured campus


 Campus with 7 gates and Boundary wall with height of 8-10 ft from the
ground level.
 Security service is the outsourced to the security agencies. Currently
the security agency is IBI Detective Pvt.Ltd provided 7 guards and 2
security supervisor. In addition there
 are two lady security . security guidelines are provided in the ISO
process manual.
 In nutshell , role of security is to monitor gate, movement of vehicle in
the campus, entry of the visitor, Construction and renovation material
of contract. debris removal,
 students check at the entry.
 Special care is taken for security of girls by appointing 2 female guards

Security during programme:
 To guide the people and check from entering and making them sit in the
programme hall with smooth exit.
 Electrician present during event duties are electrical supply for sound system,
light n stage and audience area ad even to check the working of the air
condition.
 Fire extinguisher installed inside and outside the auditorium
 There are 164 CCTV cameras are installed to cover maximum locations in the
college building and campus. CCTV camera file is available in the server
room. The monitoring
 through all the cameras is done in server room. Backup upto 10 days can be
maintained and deleted automatically once the period is over.
 CCTV footage from all the cameras are monitored by the dedicated person.
Organisation, Governance, and Transparency
Governance system
 TCET is governed by AICTE, DTE, University of Mumbai and
the Government of Maharashtra rules and regulations,
stakeholders (viz. Industry, parents, etc.) expectations and
 demands, institutional sustainability and growth and other
factors affecting governance directly or indirectly.
Governance structure:
 The institute is governed by the following committees:
Governing council, Advisory committee, and Local managing
committee. Other than this for the smooth functioning and
 progress of the institution, it has appointed members of other
committees like staff selection committee, equipment
purchase committee, and finance committee.

 Governance at Management Level:
The Chairman & Secretary of the Trust assisted by Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) and Principal of the college lay down
the policy.
 Governance at Senior Leadership level:
Senior Leadership includes Deans and MR. At present there
are three Deans viz. Dean (Academic), Dean (R & D), Dean
(SSW) . Roles and responsibilities lie with senior leadership.
General Roles & Responsibilities:

 To follow the guidelines of the University with regard to the Academic standards
for the programmes offered in the Institute and to take steps to achieve higher
standards
 in coordination with HODs
 To take a note of the existing teaching practices to enhance the creativity /
innovative skills amongst faculty members for improvement of delivery system
 To ensure the pace and rigor of syllabus coverage by adding value based practices

Rules and Policies:


 The institute is governed by the rule and the regulations of the UOM, AICTE, DTE, Govt. Of Maharastra

as the institute is affiliated to UOM. The governing rules


 include:

 1.Programme approvals :

 Granting approvals for new courses and continuing the existing course based on the fulfillment of

norms and standards.


 Publication : AICTE handbook consisting of norms , standards and procedures available on AICTE

portal.
 2. Fee Fixation:Fee for the programmes are fixed by the Shikhshan Shulka Samiti appointed by the

Govt. Of Maharashtra. Fixation is based on the total


 expenditure in the financial year divided by the total number of students in the institute excluding the

students admitted under the scheme viz .tuition fee


 waiver scheme(TFWS), J&K quota etc.

Safety Norms and Checks
 Electrical safety :All electrical installations are part of the building plan
approved by the BMC and installation have been done by qualified
contractors and verified by authority governing law.
 Mechanical lab – All the heavy power operated mechanical equipments
are installed as per the electrical standards and are safe to operate.
 Earthing is checked by college electrician
 Voltage between earth and neutral is monitor on regular basis by
college electrician
 Load check is done by TATA power as and when need arises.
 Routine Check, Yearly Check, Random Check done by college
electrician.

 Fire-fighting measurements: Fire


extinguishers are provided on each floor and
in the event of a fire can be used with care.
There are trained attendants to help on each
floor emergency situations. Safety
arrangements with emergency / exit doors
have also been provided in case of
emergencies such as fire and fire drills are
conducted periodically.

 All classrooms, laboratories have large windows on


one wall of the building which provide light and fresh
air as required. Auditorium contains Three (03+ 01)
exits. There are
 more than 10 fire extinguishers available for
Auditorium including the floor lobby. Other than this
there are two water tanks with 1 lac liter capacity
each on college tarris. A
 water tank with capacity more than 10 lacs liter is
available on ground.

Safety of civil structure


 Civil structures were approved by BMC for utilization as a
college, foundation; beams, walls etc. are built as per the
required regulatory norms. The college is run under the aegis
of the Thakur Education Group Trust, run by the Thakur
family, who are reputed builders in the Mumbai suburbs.
Hence safety of the civil structures is ensured by the family, as
it is their vision to fulfil the dream of their parent in building
an educational institute of repute. Currently building is 13
years old

 Handling of hazardous chemicals and other such activities


 The institute does not provide the course on chemical
technology and allied courses. Therefore, this part is of not of
much concern. However, institute has the applied chemistry
laboratory for doing the experiment in applied chemistry a
course of first year engineering and is a common subject for
all the programmes. The chemical used in the laboratory are
normal chemical and not hazardous.
 The institute doesn’t appreciate any experiment which
requires concentrated chemicals in chemistry laboratory.
Counselling and Emergency Medical Care and First- aid

Availability of counselling facility:


For students: Every student is assigned a teacher-guardian (faculty member) upon
securing admission in the college and this faculty member stays with the student
for his/her student life at the college. The “Teacher-Guardian Scheme” ensures
that the student community has a friend, philosopher and guide. The
introduction of this process has not only yielded improved student results, but
also engaged the students with our college effectively. Parents too are involved
through this process as the Teacher-Guardian interacts with the parents apprising
them about their ward’s performance.
 “Teacher-Guardian” mentorship programme ensures that students are

continuously monitored for attendance and results, motivated and counselled to


achieve better results and also become participative members in the college as
well as society. Such a personalized approach at the engineering level is a unique
process which takes care of student in general low profile students.

Arrangement for emergency medical care:


 Arrangement for emergency medical care/availability of first-
aid unit: There is a self content sick room on ground floor
with capacity of two beds. For emergencies doctor available
on call, so also an ambulance. First aid kit is available at
reception counter in administration office. Detail list of
which is available at the same place. Dr. Tripathi has been
available for medical emergency. Nearest hospital are the
Tripathi Hospital and Sanchati hospital/nursing home for any
medical emergency. In addition , outside the campus, there
is BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corportaion) hospital.

First aid kit is available at reception counter in
administration office. Also maintained in the
workshop , machine shop and sick room.
