RATIONAL AND IRRATIONAL NUMBERS

a
 Rational Numbers can be writeen as a fraction in the form b , where a and
b are integers and b0
 5, 0.4, 5%, 0.333333…, 0.545454…
 An irrational numbers cannot be written as a fraction.
 The decimal expansion of irrational numbers is infinite with no pattern.

SURDS
• What is a surd?
A surd is a number written exactly using roots. A surd cannot be reduced
to a whole number and are used to express irrational numbers in exact
form.
