SPEAKER

• Speaker is the initiator of the speech/conversation.

• Started with an aim to be achieved.
• Professor giving lecture, mother telling us that she loves us.
• E.g persuasion, suggestion or even telling orders.
MESSAGE

• Carries the words of intent from the speaker to achieve his aim.
• Trying to be clear as possible or discreet as in to deliver the essence of the
message.
• Many forms of message, as in lengthy such as the principal giving a speech,
or a brief one like talking to a friend.
CHANNEL

• The medium where the message is being carried through and delivered safely to
the listener’s ears.
• We might say that radio and youtube videos could be a channel for the message to
be delivered, I would say it is not wrong.
• To be more precise, the air is the medium that carried our voice in the form of
sound wave. Hence, if possibly we are in a vacuum state situation, it is impossible
to speak because of no air which is the medium.
• Thus, we could appropriately said that radio and videos carried the recorded
message of ourselves and send it through another medium. It is a double process.
LISTENER

• The crucial part of having a speech is to have a listener. Even if we mumbled

to ourselves, “ourselves” would still count as a listener. Speaker and listener,
how convenient!
• We need to know our listener better so we could deliver the message
effectively and safely.
• For example, students listening to the professor giving a lecturer or even
watching Youtube videos and hearing podcasts.
INTERFERENCE

• A speaker must be always ready to have interference in the middle of his speech.
• Interference is one of the factor that causes the listener to misunderstand or
completely do not understand the message.
• There are 3 types of interference. Psychology, physically and physiologically.
• Psychology as in suddenly daydreaming in a class where teacher is teaching.
• Physically would be the train passing by or loud or sharp noise.
• Physiologically would mean the any parts of the body made someone unable or
distracting from the message. E.g, deaf person, or fainting.
SITUATION/CONTEXT

• Situation or context of the speech given must be appropriately correct and

suitable for the particular occasion with the right person.
• Very important to prevent inappropriate message to be delivered that may
offend people.
• For example giving a humorous speech in the house would be acceptable as it
would lead to a positive environment. However, if it is done to a stranger in
the middle of nowhere and tried to give a joke, I would say that it would not
turn out well. More importantly, it is very recommended not to joke when
giving a funeral speech!
FEEDBACK

• Feedback is the part where only the listener took part of.
• This is also the final part of a speech because this could only happened when
a speech is successfully finished.
• It could be a bad feedback or a supportive feedback.
• The speaker give this part as the important one because it reflects how much
our listener understand from the message he gave.
• Non-verbal action could also mean as a subconscious feedback. E.g, yawning
or feigning ignorance or they just walk away.
