OUTLINES OF PRESENTATION

 Background of the presentations.

 Benefits we gain by giving presentations.

 Comparisons of the present format with the proposed

concept.
 Justification of the statements made in the comparison.

 Defining the rating system of presentations in this concept.

 Rules and rewards for the presentation.

 Executing the concept with scheduling and team formations.

THEME OF CONDUCTING
PRESENTATIONS

 Started in the year of 2007.

 Initially we had presentations on present running projects of

each individual.
 It was like brain storming sessions for the team R&D by multi

dimensional thought process.

 Further it was converted into monthly review meeting and the

presentations have taken to next level.

 Main motto behind all this is to build a confident team of R&D

to face any sort of challenges.

BENEFITS BY GIVING PRESENTATIONS

 Improving or polishing our presenting & communication skills.

 Gaining & sharing knowledge which provides added

information as a learning tool.
 Developing a habit of deeper understanding of a topic or

content.
 Increasing confidence to speak and present in front of an

audience.
 Most important is that a member who can present or

communicate effectively can place his/her position in greater

heights.

OVERVIEW OF THE
CONCEPT IN BRIEF

FOUR ASPECTS IN
PRESENTATION
I. Presentation Skills
(25 points)

a. Preparation or creating power point

presentation (Covering the topic, help can
be taken):10

b. Confidence and control on presenting

the topic (body language, mastering the
art of presenting, tone of voice): 7
I. Presentation Skills
(25 points)

c. Understanding levels and success in

sharing the content (how well the content
reached the audience): 5

d. Drag the attention of the audience in

the room (making audience interactive): 3
II. Selection Of Topic Or Research
Paper (25 points)

a. Relevance of chosen topic to the functional

area of member (Relevant to his present
project line or total new concept): 10

b. Quality and standard of the material: 15

III. Duration Of The Presentation
(25 points)

a. The duration of the presentation is

monitored in minutes.

b. Duration is calculated excluding the

interactive sessions between the ppt (time
will be paused when any questions or any
interactions)
III. Duration Of A Presentation
(25 points)

c. Rating is considered as each point per two

minutes and a maximum of 25 points (target
a 50 minutes presentation to score 25 points)
IV. Scope of converting presentation
(25 points)

a. If the presentation is given only to improve

the skills (known concept and proven
techniques): 10

b. If the presentation content is informative

about advanced technology ahead in future
(interesting that can materialize later): 15
IV. Scope of converting presentation
(25 points)

c. If there is a scope to take some inputs from

presentation (inputs to develop any testing
procedures or ideas that helps the cause to
run present projects): 20
IV. Scope of converting presentation
(25 points)

d. If the member conveys the scope of

converting his/her presentation to project
(He / She has to give a statement in ppt
showing interest to take it as R&D initiated
project): 25
(Increase chances to identify new projects that can fulfill the Quality objectives
& BRS targets)
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 Judges panel will be there to rate the presentations given by four teams.

 A standard of rating the score by judges needs to be taken from the merit
of member’s previous presentations not in comparison with others.
 Minimum score for a member to pass each aspect is 10 points. If any
member scores 40 pts passing all aspects his/her team will get 5 points.
 Member can decrease one presentation from his count (optional) of the
year, if he/she passes in all four aspects.
 Member can make the presentation his last one (optional) of the year, if
he/she can cross a merit score of 60 points (Above 15 points in each
aspect) and his/her team will get 10 points.
 If any members skips his presentation in the session a penalty of -5 points
will be given to his team.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 Announcement of the performance is made in the next presentation only

if the presentation scores pass mark & above in all four aspects.
 Feedback and suggestions report with allotted points will be shared
personally if scored less to realize the mistakes and improve further.
 An average of scores of judge’s is considered as final score individually in
all aspects.
 Every presentation should be video captured and submitted to judge’s
panel for further reference along with ppt & research paper.
 Judgement with 60% deviation on an average of two low or higher scores
will not be considered as valid one and it will be taken care by Head
R&D.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 For example in an aspect of 25 points

 Case 1
 Judge A gives 10 points for the presentation
 Judge B gives 19 points for the presentation
 Judge C gives 13 points for the presentation
  Average score is calculate by taking the average of two low scores
 i.e, 10 & 13 averages to give 11.5
 60 % value is added on these 11.5 points
 i.e, 11.5*60% = 6.9 points
 So the third judge score should not be above 11.5 + 6.9 = 18.4
 In this case 1 judgment of judge B is not considered.
 Average of judge’s A & C judgment is considered as rating.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 For example in an aspect of 25 points

 Case 2
 Judge A gives 5 points for the presentation
 Judge B gives 15 points for the presentation
 Judge C gives 14 points for the presentation
 Average score is calculate by taking the average of two higher scores
 i.e, 14 & 15 averages to give 14.5
 60 % value is added on these 14.5 points
 i.e, 14.5*60% = 8.7 points
 So the third judge score should not be below 14.5 – 8.7 = 5.8
 In this case 2 judgment of judge A is not considered.
 Average of judge’s B & C judgment is considered as rating.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 For example in an aspect of 25 points

 Case 3
 Judge A gives 5 points for the presentation
 Judge B gives 10 points for the presentation
 Judge C gives 17 points for the presentation
 Average score is calculate by taking the average of two low scores
 i.e, 10 & 5 averages to give 7.5
 60 % value is added on these 7.5 points
 i.e, 7.5*60% = 4.5 points
 So the third judge score should not be above 7.5 + 4.5 = 12
 In this case 3 judgment of judge C is not considered.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 For example in an aspect of 25 points

 Case 3
 Judge A gives 5 points for the presentation
 Judge B gives 10 points for the presentation
 Judge C gives 17 points for the presentation
 Average score is calculate by taking the average of two higher scores
 i.e, 10 & 17 averages to give 13.5
 60 % value is added on these 13.5 points
 i.e, 13.5*60% = 8.1 points
 So the third judge score should not be below 13.5 - 8.1 = 5.4
 In this case 3 judgment of judge A is also not considered.
 Only the judgment of judge B is considered as rating.
Rules & Rewards For The Presentation

 The presentation that passes in all four aspects has a surprise prize
along (approx budget Rs.1000) with a treat in seminar room on behalf of
the member by R&D. (approx budget Rs.3000).

 There will be a total of three sessions in the year.

 A quick glance at member report card of surprise prize winner is made

to just show in which area he has impressed judges.

 This indicates that it has been nominated for that session & has a
transparency in selection of the winner (Who scores more is the winner).

 A member has to get at least pass points in all four aspects to be

nominated for the competition in that session.

Advantages Of The Concept

 We can try to improve the quality of the presentation standards.

 Scoring above 60 points makes the presentation count to one minimum

in a year.

 Scoring above 40 points in presentation makes the count to two

minimum in a year.

 Scoring high gives the credit and encouragement. Not considering all the
above still the presentation count remains three minimum in a year.

 So the probability is inversely proportionate to the effort made and skills

we develop in the progress.
