VOCATIONAL TRAINING REPORT

ON
Mechanical Workshop
Presented By:
NARENDRA KUMAR
Roll No: 0709740070
INTRODUCTION
The subject of workshop increasingly
important to the engineer, supervisor or
worker engaged in the production of
various type of machine tools. It has been
established since long, that the ability to
work skillfully with hands.
The study of workshop made compulsory
these days for engineer workers &
foreman so that he make himself
acquainted with basic knowledge of
manufacturing process & materials.
This workshop is public sector industry
which is governed by the chief workshop
manager who appointed by the central
government. There are thousands of
persons employed in the workshop for
different purposes.
MACHINE TOOLS USED IN WORKING
SECTION
The machine tools used in the working sections
are:
1. Grinding Machine
2. Drilling Machine
3. Milling Machine
4. Lathe Machine
5. Shaper Machine
6. Slater Machine
DETAILS OF THE MACHINE TOOLS

1. GRINDING MACHINE
Grinding is a process of removing material by
the abrasive action of a removing wheel on
the surface of work piece, in order to bring it
to required shape and size.

Abrasive: It is that material of the grinding wheel which

does the cutting action.
Grinding Machine
2. DRILLING MACHINE
Drilling is an operation through which holds are
produced in the solid metal by means of a
revolving tool called drill. Twist drill is the most
widely used tool in modern drilling practice. It
consists of a cylindrical body carrying two spiral
flutes cut on it. Twist drill is usually made of
high speed steel.
DRILLING MACHINE
3. MILLING MACHINE

“Milling” is the name given to machine process

in which the removal of metal takes place due
to cutting action revolving cutter is held on the
spindle or arbor & the work, clamped on the
machine table, fed past the same. In doing so
the metal, in the form of chips, from the
surface of the work to produce the desired
shape.
4. LATHE MACHINE
The lathe can be defined as machine tools
which holds the work between two right &
strong support, called centers.
The lathe machine was generally
for facing generally for facing, turning
thread, cutting etc.

WELDING SHOP

The welding shop is the joining of two

similar and dissimilar metals by fusion, with
or without filler material and also without
application of pressure. The process of
joining similar metals by melting the edges
together with the edition of filler metal is
called autogenously welding.
ELECTRIC ARC WELDING
Arc welding is a type of welding that uses a welding
power supply to create an electric arc between an
electrode and the base material to melt the metals
at the welding point. They can use either direct
(DC) or alternating (AC) current, and consumable
or non-consumable electrodes. The welding region
is sometimes protected by some type of inert or
semi-inert gas, known as a shielding gas, and/or an
evaporating filler material.
HEAT TREATMENT

The heat treatment is defined as an

operation or a combination of
operations involving the heating and
cooling of metal or an alloy in the
solid state for the purposes of
obtaining certain desirable condition
or properties.
TYPES OF HEAT TREATMENT
PROCESS
Following are the various types of heat
treatment process commonly
employed in engineering practice:
1. Annealing
2. Normalizing
3. Hardening
4. Tempering
5. Case hardening or Surface hardening
SAFETY POLICY
It is the safety policy of the
workshop:
Customer satisfaction service and
continuously increase in production
also strives for productivity is known
as safety policy.
