1 We can see the direction of the wind blowing by looking at a
weather vane.
3 At certain places on the Earth, there are high air pressure and low air
pressure.
4 The air pressure is low at the Equator because the Earth’s surface is very
hot there and the hear makes the air expand and rise, so lowering its

4 Three main belts of the prevailing winds on each side of the
Equator:
a. Trade winds
b. Westerlies
c. Polar Easterlies
2 This is especially for the safety of boats, ships, aircrafts and oil
rigs.
6 The harder the wind blows, the faster the cups of the
anemometer turn and the reading goes higher on the
meter.
