Grammar Test
Syntactocentric Test- the way words are
organized in a sentence.
Looks specifically at the way words or linguistic items
are arranged in a sentence and views this arranged in
a operationalized and systematic way. (Purpura, 2004)
It is predominantly concerned with the structure

of clauses and sentences. This view defines

“grammar” as a systematic way of accounting

for and predicting an “ideal” speaker or

hearer’s knowledge of the language.

Communicative Concern
It focuses more on the overall message
being communicated and the
interpretation that this message might
invoke. “Grammar” is treated as one of
the many sources for accomplishing
something with language.
Communicative concern its emphasis is
on how language is used to convey
meaning or message from one person
to another.
