PURPOSE OF IPC

• A better understanding of culture and society in the


Philippines and other Asian countries
• An improved quality of life for disadvantaged group,
and
• More peaceful, just and equitable national and global
society
FILIPINO CULTURE
• Is a combination of culture of the East and West
LANGUAGE
• There are 175 estimated languages spoken in the Philippines
CULTURE
• The Philippines is a country that has varied cultural
influences
MUSIC, ART, AND LITERATURE
• Filipinos are very fond of music
RELIGION
• Majority of the Filipino people practice the Christian religion
CELEBRATIONS
• Christmas is one of the most loved celebration by Filipinos
SPORTS
• Filipinos are not only skilled when it comes to industry but
also in sports

FAMILY STRUCTURE
• The basic social unit of the country is the family which is
composed of the family members
MEALS
• Filipino’s are big eaters. They also have different street
foods and exotic foods
FILIPINO VALUES
• Refers to the set of values or the value of system that a majority
of Filipinos have historically held important and their loves

PAKIKIPAGKAPWA - TAO
• Helpfulness and generosity in times of need.

UTANG NA LOOB
• It is a technique reciprocity of debt of gratitude to others
within the family circle or primary group
PAKIKISAMA
• It is the value of belongingness and loyalty
HIYA
• Because of ‘Hiya’, a Filipino cannot say ‘NO’.
BAHALA NA
• This rest of the fatalistic outlook and strong dependence on the
‘spirits’ who will take care of everything if they are really meant for a
person
AUTHORITARIANISM
• Commonly practiced in the Filipino family which is
basically patriarchal in nature
INDIVIDUALISM
• Pattern of behavior which characterizes the Filipino as self-
centered.
AMOR - PROPIO
• Common form of this are “hele hele bago quiere” or pakipot
HOSPITALITY
• The friendly and generous reception and entertainment of
guests, visitors, or strangers.

BAYANIHAN
• It is a helping out one’ neighbor as a community and doing a task
together, thus lessening in the workload and making the job easier
