INTRODUCTION

Sophia-The first humanoid

 Who/What is Sophia
Sophia is a social humanoid robot.
Sophia was activated on
April 19,2015.
She is able to display more
than 62 facial expressions.
In October 2017,she became
a Saudi Arabian citizen, the first
robot to receive citizenship in any
country.
 History
Sophia was created by Henson
Robotics in collaboration with AL
developers.
Sophia was modelled after
actress Audrey Hepburis.
Sophia has 7 siblings who were
also created by Henson Robotics.
 Description of SOFIA
The robot, modelled after the ancient Egyptian
tQueen Nefertiti, is known for human-like
appearance and behaviour compared to
previous robotic variants.
According to the manufacturer, David
Hanson, Sophia uses artificial intelligence, visual
data processing and facial recognition.

o On November 21, 2017, Sophia was named the 

United Nations Development Programme's first-ever Innovation
Champion for Asia and the Pacific.

o Sophia will help to unlock innovation to work toward achieving the

United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.

o On stage, she was assigned her first task by UNDP Asia Pacific
Chief of Policy and Program, Jaco Cilliers

On October 11,2017,sophia was introduced to the
United Nations with a brief conversation with the
United Nations deputy Secretary- General , Amina
J. Mohammed.

In a interview with Business Insider’s chief UK editor

Jim Edwards ,he predicted it was a step towards
“conversational artificial intelligence.

Sophia also impressed CNBC interviewer , in which

she was interviewed like a human.

Recently on March 21 , 2018 , Sophia addressed a

conference in Kathmandu Nepal as a part of UN’s
Sustainable Development Goals in Asia.

Techno India University is bringing the famous humanoid
 robot Sophia to Kolkata for an interactive session. The
event will take place on February 18 at Nazrul Mancha.
Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by a Hong
Kong based company and extremely intelligent. Besides,
she is able to display more than 60 facial expressions.
 Sophia’s little
version
Little Sophia is the little sister of Sophia
and the newest member of the Hanson
Robotics family. She is 14” tall and your
robot friend that makes learning STEM,
coding and AI a fun and rewarding adventure for kids 8+ years old. 

Little Sophia is scheduled for delivery in 2020.
