COMPARATIVE DEGREE OF COMPARISON OF
ADJECTIVE
“Comparative degree” of adjectives: the form used to compare one
noun with one noun two, usually assisted by the word “than.”

Pattern:
1. .... er + than
2. more ..... + than
Example:
1. Agamemnon, a son of Atreus, is 40 years old
Menelaus, a younger brother of Agamemnon, is 38 years
old.
Agamemnon, a son of Atreus, is older than Menelaus, a
younger brother of Agamemnon.
2. Penelope , a queen of Ithaca, was faithful to
Odysseus although he left her for twenty
years, on the other hand, Clytemnestra, the
daughter of Tyndareus, had seduced with
Aegisthus during the absence of her husband,
Agamemnon.

Penelope, a queen of Ithaca, is more
