 INTRODUCTION
In plumbing installation there are various
kinds of materials that are available; the
following are the most popular and
commonly used in plumbing:

3. Asbestos pipe
4. Bituminous fiber sewer pipe
5. Vitrified clay pipe
6. Lead pipe

9. Brass pipe
10. Copper pipe
11. Plastic or synthetic pipe
12. Stainless steel pipe
However, not all of the materials mentioned can
be used in a single plumbing system installation.
The type of pipe that should be built is
determined by the following factors.
1. Quality and durability
2. Resistance to external and internal contact with
foreign matters.
3. Resistance to acid waste and other chemical
elements that will pass into it.
4. Cost of materials and labor.
A mixture of two or more types of plumbing
materials is often used to meet the intent of
the installation while taking advantage of the
benefits it provides to plumbing.
 CAST IRON SOIL PIPE
Cast iron pipe has been the most common and
commonly specified material for drainage systems
in buildings for decades. It is long-lasting, easy to
mount, and meets the plumbing needs of all types
of buildings taller than 25 stories.

However, because of frequent vibrations that cause
water leakage at pipe joints, buildings taller than
25 floors do not require the use of cast iron pipe.

Cast iron pipe is corroded to some degree by the
action of carbon dioxide, sulfur oxide, and methane
gases, which form carbonic acid and sulfuric acid
solutions. These acids strike the metal, allowing a
slow chemical reaction or oxidation to occur, resulting
in ferrous oxide, also known as rust.

underground installations.

 ACID RESISTANT CAST
IRON PIPE
Is made of a cast iron and silicon alloy. It is commonly used in
chemical labs, factories, and other facilities that discharge acid
waste. Since this type of pipe is brittle, it necessitates additional
support for each pipe mounted horizontally to prevent joint
sagging.
