This research studied code-switching between teachers and students in an English conversation class in Indonesia, observing and interviewing two teachers and 36 students to determine the kinds and functions of code-switching used. The results showed that teachers frequently used code-switching between English and Indonesian to make questions, give advice, and clarify meanings for students, while students used code-switching to make it easier to speak English and understand what they wanted to say.
