CORRELATION SEMINAR ON

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

Name: Nischal Neupane

MBBS 38th Batch
Roll Number: 1836
1
OBJECTIVES

1. To name the organs involved in the

reticuloendothelial system
2. To describe the role of bone marrow
3. To correlate it with megaloblastic
anaemia

2
RETICULOENDOTHELIAL SYSTEM
+ Group of cells having ability to take up and
sequester inert particles and vital dyes
+ Includes macrophage and macrophage precursors
+ Includes reticular cells of lymphatic tissue ie
macrophages and of bone marrow ie fibroblasts
+ Includes specialized endothelial cells lining sinusoids
of liver, spleen and bone marrow.

3
CONTINUED

+ Reticuloendothelial system now better known

as
1. Monocyte macrophage system
2. Macrophage system
3. Monocyte phagocyte system
4. Monocyte phagocytic system

4

BONE MARROW
+ Are special semisolid tissues found in
medullary cavities of bones
+ Are primary lymphoid organs
+ Hematopoietic organ
+ Two types
1. Red bone marrow
2. Yellow bone marrow

ROLE OF BONE MARROW
+ Active hematopoietic organ
+ Pleuripotent hematopoietic stem cell
+ Precursor of all blood cells
+ Myeloid and lymphoid progenitors
+ Granulocyte-Monocyte, erythrocytes and
megakaryocyte
+ T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes and NK(natural
killer) cells
