Afghan University Student Exchange Program (AUSEP)

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan and American Councils
announce an open competition for third-year university students from English Language
Departments to take part in the Afghanistan University Student Exchange Program (AUSEP).
The overall goal of AUSEP is to improve the quality of English language instruction in
Afghanistan. Participants will be part of a professional development training in Uzbekistan and
lead English language activities in their home communities, upon return to Afghanistan.
The program will be held each year in Tashkent, at the Uzbekistan State University of World
Languages for five weeks.
Applicants must meet all eligibility criteria to be considered eligible for this program. Therefore,
please read all contents carefully and check the program eligibility requirements at
https://ausep.org/eligibility

STEP 3: Login to Your AIS Account
You can use your email as a username, or your name could be your username.
Only the email address you provided to the system is applicable. Please keep
login information with yourself.

STEP 3.1: Open Your Application
Click on the “Open” button of the Afghanistan University Student Exchange
Program to begin with the application process. Check the program eligibility
requirements at https://ausep.org/eligibility

STEP 4: Introduction
In this section, you will increase your understanding of program goals, eligibility
criteria, selection process, timelines, benefits, and checklist.

STEP 4.1: How to Use this Form


In this section, you will increase your understanding of using this form, for
example, saving your works, etc.

Make sure you enter your full name, and the

STEP 5: Personal Data
All required data are about you; please complete all of them based on your
Tazkera or Passport (if any). Mostly in Afghanistan, we have an only first name
and last/family name.

Make sure to provide accurate contact information, including home address,
email, emergency contacts, and active phone numbers. For your location postal

STEP 7: Upload Your Documents
In this section, please upload your documents considering maximum file size and its

STEP 8: Education History
Please provide exact information about your university, address, start/ end dates, the field of
study, and active contacts in this section. If your university name is not on the list, it means you
are not eligible for this program.

STEP 9: Leadership History


Please provide exact information about your community or university involvement and
participation in a USG sponsored exchange program.

STEP 10: Knowledge of Languages


Please provide exact information about your knowledge of languages, standardized tests such
as TOEFL, IELTS, and uploading of test results (if any).

STEP 11: Short Essays

This section is an important component of your application. Your


responses give the selection committee an opportunity to understand
you better as a student and as a person and to appreciate the value of
your teaching and training style, ideas, goals, and reasons for applying
to the program.

This section of the application is the only opportunity you have in this
stage of the competition to provide a description of yourself that goes
deeper than a simple list highlighting your experience, education, and
accomplishments. Thus, we urge you to think through your responses
carefully before beginning to write.

STEP 11: Short Essays - Continued

The AUSEP Program takes plagiarism very seriously. Any


responses copied/plagiarized from the Internet, publications
(books, articles, etc.), or other people's work will disqualify your
application.

events in your life influenced you to want to become a teacher?
2. What do you want to learn on this program and why?
