IMPORTING AUTOCADD FILE (PLAN) eQUEST

STEP 1: Open the software, this is first tab you see after opening.

STEP 2 : Click on create a new project via wizard and select design
development wizard
IMPORTING AUTOCADD FILE (PLAN) eQUEST

STEP 1: Enter the General

information like Project
name, building type
Import BIN file of the city
where the building is located

STEP 2 :Select the description of

the season you need.
Here I have selected typical use
throughout the year. And then
select return to navigator

STEP 2 :Mention the floor for

which analysis has to be done
and again select the type of the
building.
IMPORTING AUTOCADD FILE (PLAN) eQUEST

 STEP 1: Select the zoning

pattern to be
created(Perimeter)
 Import CAD file of single
line dwg.
 Mention the building
orientation
 Mention the Floor to Floor
height of the building.
 It gives the total area of the
building.
 Select the units.
 Create the layers and can
make it visible and
invisible as per your
requirement.
 Click on apply
CREATE ZONES eQUEST

 STEP 1: Set the Snap

Priority as first for CAD &
No snap for polygon and
grid.
 It takes up the origin
points
 Once the cad drawing is
imported, click on the
arrow to draw the
perimeter of the building.
 The perimeter has to be
always drawn in anti-
clockwise direction.
 The same process has to
be done for creating zones
in the plan so that
separate analysis of these
zones can be done.
eQUEST

 STEP 1: Mention floor to

floor height and floor to
ceiling height.
 Mention the zones that
need to be conditioned,
unconditioned and
refrigerated.
 In ‘Building Envelope
Constructions’ tab select
the specifications of roof
surface and walls
according to our
requirement. Here it is kept
as default.
 In ‘Building Interior
Constructions’ select the
required interior finishes
for ceiling and interior
walls.
eQUEST
 STEP 1: In ‘Exterior Doors’
tab select the door type and
mention the numbers of doors
to be oriented in each
direction.
 Click on next screen.
 In ‘Exterior Windows’ tab
select the required window
specification method (percent
of net wall floor to ceiling)
 Describe the window type
glass category, window
dimensions, sill height and
orientation.
 Custom the placement of
window in plan and again
click on create new window
for placing next window.
 Select the windows that needs
to have overhangs. In this case
we have given overhangs for
all the windows.
eQUEST

 STEP 1: In ‘Building
Operation Schedule’ mention
the opening time and closing
time for all the days in the
week and select typical use
of the building.
 In ‘Activity Area Allocation’
tab give the area percentage
design maximum occupants
(persons per sq.m) for each
areas.
 In ‘ Zone Group Definitions’
tab create zone groups and
mention the zones that needs
HVAC System.
eQUEST

 STEP 1: In ‘Non HVAC

Enduses to Model’ tab select
the interior lighting type and
other office equipments and
also add miscellaneous.
 Select the exterior enduses
for the building.
 In ‘ Interior Lighting loads
and profiles’ tab select the
ambient for interior lighting
for entire year.
 It gives lighting requirement
in W/Sq.ft as per the area
percentage of the zones
customized.
 After making the required
changes in all wizads click
return to navigator.
HVAC eQUEST

 FOR HVAC INPUTS :

 Select project navigator tab and the go
to ‘Edit selected system’ for further
HVAC inputs.
HVAC eQUEST

 In ‘HVAC System Definition’

tab select type of the system
and mention no heating is
required.
 In ‘HVAC zones : Temperature
and air flows’ mention design
temperatures in Fahrenheit and
also mention the required
minimum air flow speed for
the design.
 In ‘ Packaged HVAC
Equipment’ auto size the
cooling system and select the
what tons of system is required.
 In ‘ HVAC System Fans’ tab
give the power and meter
efficiency and also mention the
fan type speed.
HVAC eQUEST

 In ‘HVAC System Fan

Schedule’ tab select the total
time when the fan operates.
 In ‘HVAC zone heating, vent
and economizers’

 After adding all the inputs , Click perform simulations to

get the simulated report for the customized zones and
inputs added.
RESULTS & INFERENCES eQUEST
 Electricity consumed for different uses like lighting,
Misc. Equipment's, ventilation are given in pie chart in
terms of percentage.
 It gives the annual energy consumption for all the given
equipment's.
 It gives the graph showing electric consumption in
KWh for different months in a year.
 The color legends provide information about electric
consumption in KWh.
OPTIMISED DESIGN RESULTS

 This software provides over all electric consumptions throughout the used by the
building according to its schedule given.
 We can optimize the efficiency of building operation by adopting passive
strategies which in turn reduces the load on energy consumption.
 By following basic energy conservative rules like off the equipment's we can
reduce the energy consumption.
 This software provides the detailed scheduling of use of equipment's where we
can manage to get the appropriate consumption of electricity.

VIEWS
 This is the total consumption of
electricity by various equipment's after
optimizing the operation schedule of
the equipment's and reducing the
HVAC load in the work station where
natural ventilation helps to keep the
interior comfort.
