Drinking habits of tea in Iraq
• Iraqis love tea

• The Iraqis love tea, but they won’t serve tea in just any cup. If it’s not in a crystal clear
cylinder-shaped glass the size of a shot glass

• The more Iraqis like you, the more sugar they’ll put at the bottom of the glass typically
receive two and a half teaspoons.

• In Iraq, tea is really just a vehicle for conversation.

After about four cups of tea, the conversation is typically over

• Most consumers view tea as a commodity and brand consideration do not heavily shape
purchase decisions.

• The Iraqi tradition of drinking tea dates back centuries and is well ingrained in social
customs.
Climatic Conditions
• Most of Iraq has a hot arid climate. Summer
temperatures average above 40 °C (104 °F) for most of
the country and frequently exceed 48 °C (118.4 °F).
Winter temperatures infrequently exceed 21 °C (69.8 °F)
with maximums roughly 15 to 16 °C (59 to 60.8 °F) and
night-time lows occasionally below freezing. Typically
precipitation is low; most places receive less than
250 mm (9.8 in) annually, with maximum rainfall
occurring during the winter months. Rainfall during the
summer is extremely rare, except in the far north of the
country.
