TYPES OF FIXINGS
 Load bearing

 Restrain

LOAD BEARING/SUPPORT FIXING
 Load bearing support fixings are made of
corrosion resistant metals
 Fixings take a form of angle at the lower
edge of each slab or steel corbel plates set
in slots cut in the back of stones
 Angle size- 75mm.
 Angles or corbel are fixed centrally on
vertical joints so that each supports 2 slabs
LOAD BEARING/SUPPORT FIXING
RESTRAIN FIXINGS
 Restrain fixings take a form of stainless
steel hook plates or wire fixing
 Fitted to pockets in the edges of slabs and
secured to the background by cast in
channels
 Dowels fitted to plates secured in cast
channels are also used
 Two restrain fixing to the top and bottom

COMBINED RESTRAIN AND SUPPORT
FACE FIXINGS
 Used for thin slabs
 Each stone is drilled & fixed to solid
background
 Holes drilled are filled with pellets of stone
to match stone slabs
 Bolts must have sufficient section to
support stone slabs
 Joints are filled with mastic sealant to
provide a weather tight joint

 Soffit fixings are supported and fixed by
hangers and plates, cramps or dowels
