Plantation
Plantation is a process in which a group of trees that
have been planted together.
Activity Description
•With mutual consent of all group members we decided to conduct plantation drive at Botanical
garden of University of Karachi.
•The head of the department granted us permission and asked us to plant trees that re most
required in their garden.
•Despite the scorching heat, all team members were dedicated towards this project.
•The importance of this activity is to make a small contribution for the betterment of our
environment.
Plants and their Benefits
•Red Hibiscus
Red Hibiscus plants are known for their huge, bright blooms. These blooms can make a
beautifying expansion to a home or garden.
Blooms and leaves can be made into teas and fluid concentrates that can help treat an assortment
of conditions.
•Badam tree
Almonds are among the world’s most popular tree nuts.
They are highly nutritious and rich in healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Reason why we choose University of
Karachi?
•We choose Karachi university because they have a huge area that was deserted and
best for plantation purpose they named that place as Botanical garden
•However, in past 1 year they were facing water shortage and the plants which they
planted burned due to excise amount of sun light and non availability of water
• Now the water problem has been solved but they don’t have enough donation to
do plantation again so we took that responsibility to cultivate those plants which
makes our environment healthy.
Reason Behind:
•Due to current weather of Karachi city the only solution is plantation.
•We choose plantation to take part in making our city clean and green.
•Plantation results in clear weather.
•From that we can also able to help the management of botanical garden by
providing those plants which is needed.
•It is a work from that we are helping almost all the citizen of Karachi.
•In one year an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people.
Problems:
•The major problem faced by us is to decide the social activity which is sustainable
and that actually mean to be the positive point for our society.
•After deciding the activity its quite hard to decide what to plant which provide
oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide from the environment.
•Time management because of the contradiction of class timing.
•Convincing the management of botanical garden to allow us to plant.
•Finding the plants according to the requirements of the management.
•Availability of numbers of required plants.
•Limited contributions.
CONCLUSION
•Therefore, we conclude that trees should be regularly planted to save the mankind and the
animal world. Tree plantation and its after-care is a pleasing work too. We can get much
pleasure in planting trees and in taking care of them.
•Students should plant trees in their school-compounds and in the front-yards, backyards and
side-yards of their schools and near their own houses and in other places wherever possible.
•They should explain to their neighbours the goodness of tree-plantation and encourage
them to plant and care new trees.
