DEFINITION OF POLLUTION
Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change.
Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat, or light. Pollutants,
Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust,
pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles.
Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities. When ozone forms air pollution, it's also called smog.
These particles and gases can come from car and truck exhaust, factories, dust, pollen, mold spores, volcanoes
and wildfires.
AIR POLLUTION AND ITS EFFECTS
Air pollution can also cause headaches, dizziness, and nausea. Long-term health effects from air pollution include
heart disease, lung cancer, and respiratory diseases such as emphysema.
Air pollution can also cause long-term damage to people's nerves, brain, kidneys, liver, and other organs
Riding a bike or walking instead of driving.
Taking a bus or carpooling.
Buying a car that has greater fuel efficiency.
Turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use.
Using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.
Buying fewer things that are manufactured using fossil fuels.
WATER POLLUTION
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities. Water bodies
include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater. Point sources have one identifiable
cause of the pollution, such as a storm drain or a wastewater treatment plant.
REASONS
Industrial Waste. Industries and industrial sites across the world are a major contributor to water pollution.
Marine Dumping. The process of marine dumping is exactly what it sounds like, dumping garbage into the
waters of the ocean.
Sewage and Wastewater.
Oil Leaks and Spills.
Global Warming.
Radioactive Waste.
WHAT IS CAUSING WATER POLLUTION AND ITS
EFFECT
Humans are the main cause of water pollution, which is triggered in many ways: by the dumping of
industrial waste; due to temperature rise, that cause the alteration of water by reducing the oxygen in
its composition; Or due to deforestation, which causes sediments and bacteria to appear under the soil
and therefore
Destruction of biodiversity. Water pollution depletes aquatic ecosystems and triggers unbridled
proliferation of phytoplankton in lakes — eutrophication —.
Contamination of the food chain.
Lack of potable water.
Disease.
Infant mortality.
HOW CAN WE CONTROL THE WATER POLLUTION?
Land pollution refers to the deterioration of the earth's land surfaces, at and below ground level. The cause
is the accumulation of solid and liquid waste materials that contaminate groundwater and soil
HOW TO REDUCE IT
Make people aware of the concept of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.
Reusing materials help to reduce the requirement of harvesting resources.
Reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural activities.
Reduce the use of non-biodegradable materials.
