ART & CULTURE

The culture of Sri Lanka mixes modern

elements with traditional aspects and is
known for its regional diversity. The
culture of Sri Lanka is influenced primarily
by Buddhism and Hinduism.
A country as diverse as India is symbolized
by the plurality of its culture. India has one
of the world's largest collections of songs,
music, dance, theatre, folk traditions,
performing arts, rites and
rituals, paintings and writings.
INDIA & SRI-LANKA
ARCHITECTURE
The architecture of ancient Sri Lanka displays a
rich diversity, varying in form
and architectural style from the Anuradhapura
Kingdom (377 BC–1017) through the Kingdom
of Kandy (1469–1815).
Sinhalese architecture also displays many
ancient North Indian influences.

Architecture is perhaps India’s greatest glory.

Among the most-renowned monuments are many
cave temples hewn from rock ; the Sun Temple at
Konarak (Konarka); the vast temple complexes at
Bhubaneshwar, Khajuraho, and the Hindu, Muslim,
and Jaina architectural traditions.

wooden structures, elevated slightly off the

doors (fusuma) were used in place of walls,
allowing the internal configuration of a

occasions.

Chinese buildings have a long history
