- The maximum discharge was 6706 cu. m per sec last November 12, 2020.
- Last November 12, 2020, the dam is releasing lesser what is coming in.
- The dam is still functioning in mitigating the flood since during the peak flow it releases lesser discharge of
what is coming in.
- The releases is part of the protocol of operation to avoid overtopping of the dam which could lead into dam
break and cause disaster downstream.

Short Term Plan
•Create Task Force for the review of Dam Protocol
•Setting up of Command Conference at the Central Office

Medium Term Plan

•Review and update existing operations protocol and manual, particularly on flood operation protocol and
enhance to improve efficiency .
•Continue collaborating with other government agency to improve coordination especially in warning
dissemination.
•Conduct flood drills more often to spread awareness among stakeholders.

Long Term Plan

•Revisit study conducted by JICA last 2012 as a reference for future planning which recommends
engineering solutions to rehabilitate the catchment of Cagayan River.
•Collaborate with the ongoing UN funded study conducted by University Professors of Kyoto, Japan, ISU-
Echague, Isabela, and Vietnam on Cagayan River Watershed.
•Strengthen the capability of Flood Forecasting and Warning System of NIA.
•Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modelling for the whole basin to identify engineering interventions to
solve flooding and sedimentation.
