In today’s world, one use many different spraying technologies using

energies like electrical energy, solar energy, and chemical energy of fuels. This fact
makes one know that how large amount of energy is getting used at such place
where mechanical energy can be used instead of direct energy sources. Farmers are
facing enormous problem while spraying the pesticide like tank capacity is very
small, high cost and spaying time taken more. In order to reduce problems different
type of sprayers has been introduced in the market, but these devices do not meet
the specified problems or demands of the farmers. To solve these difficulties a new
equipment that is mechanically operated wheel driven sprayer, it is a portable
device and does not need any fuel to operate, which is easy to move and spray the
pesticide by moving the wheel is to be developed. This wheel operated pesticide
spray equipment consumes less time and achieves uniform nozzle pressure; crank
mechanism with piston pump which is driven by the wheel is also used. The main
aim of the paper is to be develops a low cost mechanically operated sprayer pump
for Indian middle scale farmers. The device has been validated with the user group
and got good feedback from the user.

These herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers are applied to agricultural crops

with the help of a special device known as a "Sprayer," sprayer provides optimum
performance with minimum efforts. By the invention of sprayers, this enables
farmers to obtain the maximum agricultural output.A pesticide sprayer has to be
portable and with an increased tank capacity as well as should result in cost
reduction, labour and spraying time. In order to reduce these problems, there are a
number of sprayer introduced in the market, but these devices do not meet
theabove problems or demands of the farmers. The conventional sprayer
having the difficulties such as it needs lot of effort to push the liver up and down in
order to create the pressure to spray. Another difficulty of petrol sprayer is to need
to purchase the fuel, which increases the running cost of the sprayer
In order to overcome these difficulties, I have proposed equipment that is wheel
driven sprayer, it is a portable device and no need of any fuel to operate, which is
easy to move and sprays the pesticide by moving the wheel. This wheel operated
pesticide spray equipment consumes less time and avoids the pesticide from coming
from front of the nozzles which will in contact of the person who sprays pesticides.
The mechanism involved in this sprayer is reciprocating pump, which is driven by
the wheel Keywords: Reciprocating pump, Spraying time, Tank capacity,
Accumulator, nozzle.

Most backpack sprayers can hold up to 4 gallons of herbicide solution

weighing about 33 pounds. This weight could be carried comfortably in a standard
backpack, but poorly designed straps and back supports and leaky tank lids can
make backpack sprayers miserable to carry and messy to use. Backpack sprayers
typically come standard with a molded plastic tank that fits against the applicator’s
back and narrow, lightly padded straps that carry the weight of the sprayer on the
applicator’s shoulders (figure 2). This might be okay for applicators carrying one or
two tank loads, but not for field employees spraying all day in rough terrain. Some
strap and waist belt upgrades are available, but even the upgrades could be
improved.

The use of sprays for fighting with pests and herbaceous diseases shows
itself faster than other methods. Thus, pesticide applications have been significantly
increased. It is well-known that Received date: 2015-04-20 Accepted date: 2015-06-

agricultural machineries as a result, should be specially taken into consideration.
Achieving this goal not only leads to reduce environmental pollution, but also causes
to decrease the resistance of the pests and diseases to the sprays

The nozzle is the most important part of the sprayers. They have an
important role in the model and the pattern of spraying and therefore reaching
spray to the target (Friedrich, 1996). Most of the sprayers are equipped with the
conical and blowing nozzles. The size of the spray droplets is highly changing and it
is impossible to control and regulate accurately

The factors influenced the homogeneity of spraying of the boom-sprayer were

determined and evaluated. It was known that nozzles model of Even had better
spraying pattern (Gil et al., 2014). The effects of three September, 2015 Design,
construction and evaluation of a sprayer drift measurement system Vol. 17, No. 3
139 factors including nozzle type, diameter of nozzle orifice and spraying pressure
of the pesticide solution on the droplet spraying rate were assessed and obtained
direct relationship between them
