 THE WEBQUEST FORMULA

1. The Introduction: orients students and captures their interest.

2. The Task: describes the activity's end product.
3. The Process: explains strategies students should use to complete
the task.
4. The Resources: are the Web sites students will use to complete
the task.
5. The Evaluation: measures the results of the activity.
6. The Conclusion: sums up the activity and encourages students to
reflect on its process and results. 3
 THE TOPIC

Must be related to current events or an area of the curriculum

that's inadequately covered in available texts.

 THE TASK

1. Retelling tasks: Absorb information and demonstrate what

you’ve understood
2. Compilation tasks: Take information from a number of
sources and put into a common format
- There must be transformation of the information compiled
- Teacher must set the standard for the organizations with open decisions
for students

3. Design tasks: Create a product or plan that accomplishes a

goal
A well-designed task requires students to work within budget
and restrictions
4. Creative product tasks: Students learn about the topic by
recasting it in the form of a story, a poem or a painting
Tasks should have constraints of a particular genre, historical
accuracy, format, length, size, etc.

5. Analytical tasks: Learners are asked to look closely at a

piece of knowledge for similarities and differences, look for
relationships between causes and effects
