The MEANING

OF SCIENCE
SCIENCE DEFINED
* From Latin word “scientia” meaning “knowledge”.

Science is regarded as a product and a process, an organized

body of knowledge, and a systematic field of study focused on
establishing useful explanations about the world we live in.
Science as a product and a process

Science is a process because the scientific

method makes ANY hypothesis (or theory)
open to be proven against. ... Science is a
product because without those historic
steps, a YET MORE COMPLEX IDEA
couldn't have appeared. Example: without
Newton's laws of motion, Einstein would
have nothing to build upon.May 8, 2015

Science vs Superstition

Superstitions are self-imposed selfish beliefs, something imaginary yet

unimaginable disbelief, or mere beliefs. But science – the most well-
known and popular word of this era. Science is believed to be
something realistic which even makes the unreal real; the unachievable
achievable. (Google Search,Mar 12, 2020 )

• Searching the internet to gather information
• Distance surgery using robotics controlled by a surgeon from a different
place
Question:

• How has technology helped make everyday life

lighter, easier and faster?
• Is this a good thing?
