1.Overview
Sakuragwa Pump started pump manufacturing i
n 1953 and we have been challenging to many di
fficult requirement from customers.
One of the requests was to develop high head p
umps that could reach 200m head for a tunnel c
onstruction project.
Now this super high head model are used for no
t only construction but also other applications.
2.Development history
Joetsu-Shinkansen, a bullet train in
Japan, is now convenient an
reliable train system.
This line goes through high
mountainous area called the Japan
Alps. A deep tunnel for the line
was needed and the construction
started in early 1970’s. But at the
sites, huge water came out and
urgent demand for high head
dewatering pump had been raised.
Sakuragwa developed U-22006
and those units contributed to the
difficult project. This is the story
how we developed this model.

Under this dam, there are sump water and it had t
o dewater. Our U-22006 is installed there to collec
t water and to supply it for both agriculture irriga
tion and drinking water.
The U-22006 x 3units is installed around 160 m un
der from the underground and their piping syste
m is arranged as skew to the ground.
With regular maintenance, the pump continues t
o work.
