TROPICS, HOT AND DRY CLIMATE

AND HOT AND HUMID CLIMATE

PHYSCIAL ENIVORNMENT STUDIES
 What is
Tropics?
The  are regions of
the Earth that lie roughly in
the middle of the globe. The
tropics between
the latitude lines of the Tropic
of Cancer and the Tropic of
Capricorn. It is also known as
Tropical zone or Torrid zone.
The tropics get more exposure
to the sun. Because of all that
sun, the tropics don't experience
the kind of seasons the rest of
the Earth does. The tropical
seasons are broken up into just
two: the wet season and the dry
season
 WHAT IS EQUATOR?

The line circling the Earth mid-way

between north to south poles.

Equator is the line which divides the

Earth into northern and southern
hemisphere.

Equator is at 0 degree latitude.

 WHAT IS PRIME
MERIDIAN?
The imaginary line which divides
the Earth into western and eastern
hemisphere.

It is also called Greenwich meridian.

Prime meridian is at o degree

longitude.
 LATITUDE:
Latitude is defines as a measurement of
distance in degree of north and south
equator.

Latitude is derived from latin word latus,

which means wide.

Latitude lines are parallel to each other,

at same distance a part..

Latitude lines are the horizontal circles

drawn on the globe.

Equator is the longest of all lines of

latitude.

The positions on latitude lines above the

equator are called north and are in
northern hemisphere.

The positions on latitude lines below the

equator are called south and are in
southern hemisphere.
 Longitude:
Longitude is defines as a measurement
of distance in degree east and west of the
prime meridian.

Longitude is derived from latin word

longus, which means length.

Longitude lines are farthest apart at

equator and meet at the poles

longitude lines cross equator at right

angle.

The longitude lines to the left of prime

meridian are called west, in western
hemisphere.

The latitude lines to the right of prime

meridian are called east, in eastern
hemisphere.
 EARTH GRID:
The latitude lines and the longitude lines
together form the global grid system
used to find the exact location of any
place on Earth/

LOCATION OF PAKISTAN:
The latitude of Pakistan is 30.3753° N,
which denotes Pakistan's positioning in
the northern hemisphere. The longitude
of the country is 69.3451° E, meaning it
is part of the eastern hemisphere.
MAJOR CIRCLE OF
LATITUDE:

TROPICS OF CANCER:
It is one of the major latitude, that is
23.5 north of the Equator. The Sun is
directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer
on the summer solstice in the Northern
Hemisphere (June 20 or 21).

TROPICS OF CAPRICON:
It is one of the major latitude, that is
23.5 south of the Equator. The Sun is
directly overhead the Tropic of
Capricorn on the summer solstice in the
Southern Hemisphere (Dec. 20 or 21
