VALUE, ETHICS AND BUSINESS STRATEGY

Personal values and ethics are important for all human beings. They are
especially important for business managers as they are custodians of the
immense economic power vested in business organizations by society.

However, can manager prevent their personal values from effecting

business strategy formulation and implementation? This is a tricky
question
Business Values:-

• Value are the operational qualities that companies seek to

achieve or maintain in their performance.

• By values, we mean the qualitative goals which the company

strives to achieve in all its activities.

• Integrity • Commitment to Customers

• Boldness • Passion

• Honesty • Fun

• Trust • Humility

• Accountability • Continuous Learning

• Ownership

• Diversity • Simplicity
Business Ethics:-

Business ethics is the study of

appropriate business policies and practices regarding
potentially controversial subjects
including corporate governance, insider trading, bribery,
discrimination, corporate social responsibility, and
fiduciary responsibilities.
Business Strategy:-

A strategy is a long-term plan that you create for your company to reach
the desired, future state you envision. A strategy includes your company's
goals and objectives, the type of products/services that you plan to build,
the customers who you want to sell to and the markets that you serve to

Relationship Between Value, Ethics and Business Strategy:-

A successful company is one which can effectively recognize and cultivate

the relationship which exists between the two. Businesses that exhibit and promote strong
corporate codes of ethics are more prosperous in the long run because they show a commitment
to an expectation of sound moral behavior.

Values are beliefs that a person holds about things and aspects of life. These are guiding
principles that mold a person's behavior all his life. Ethics are codes of conduct that decide what
is wrong and what is right in a particular circumstance.
