 Ans 1. Mr. Toad was having his meal in an Inn, when he heard the sound
of the car.
 Ans 2. Mr. Toad very much enjoyed the familiar sound of the car, and his
old passion seized him, thereafter he took full charge over the vehicle.
He zoomed past the archway and his sense of right and wrong went
away temporarily. He considered himself the lawful master and was
enamored by the vehicle fully. He was chanting and the car too made a
loud noise. He was thoroughly enjoying the uncontrolled speed and at
that very moment, he was spotted by the police.
 Ans 3. Mr. Toad behaved in a very casual manner and replied, that he
was just testing how fast the marvelous car could go. He showed a
cheeky behavior towards the police.
 A.4. Mr. Clerk was a member of the Court of Law. He thought that Mr.
Toad had committed three very serious crimes which included stealing a
car, speeding and driving dangerously and cheeking the police. He felt
that Mr. Toad should get twenty years imprisonment for the three
crimes that he had committed.
 A.5. Mr. Toad was put in chains and dragged out from the Court
House. He shrieked and protested as he was being dragged across
the market place where people attacked him with carrots. As he
passed the guardrooms some soldiers made fun of him while others
gave him threatening looks. He passed the thumbscrew rooms and
finally reached the remotest dungeon. Here Mr. Toad was handed
over to the jailer who locked and imprisoned him in the dungeon.

the vehicle despite knowing that it didn’t belong to him?
A.1. Mr. Toad had a great craze for motor cars. He had no control over
his love and passion for vehicles. When he went out of the coffee room
and saw the car, he lost sense of moral values. He failed to distinguish
between the right and the wrong. He drove away someone else’s car
without permission.

A.2. Mr Toad was not a thief. He took the car because he could not control his
desire to drive. He would have returned the car after satisfying his desire to
drive it.

A.3. One who breaks the law is always punished. Mr Toad committed three
crimes, so he had to be punished. However, twenty years was a very long time
as he had no intention of stealing the car.
