What is Description?
- Details about a person, place, thing, animal, etc

(allows readers to experience what we have)

What is Descriptive
Writing?
- Descriptive writing allows readers to have clear pictures of the
ones described.

- It can be, or rather, should be applied in other types of writing


(narrative, expository, persuasive)
Where is My Communication Book?
For example:
On Tuesday afternoon around 2 P.M, the school had grown quiet for it had been half an hour since school was over. There
were only some students and mentors who underwent class activities. At that moment, I was not even scared anymore even
though the school’s atmosphere was like a graveyard. Taking back my combook which I had left was my only concern for disaster
would come if my mom found out that I didn’t bring it home. I ran like a lightning and went inside the class. I dropped my jaw as
I saw nothing in my drawer. ‘How could this be?’ I said to myself.
That afternoon, I was trembling with fear as I walked around school while looking for my book without knowing where to
start until… I saw Oliver entering the library. My eyes widened as I followed after him to the library and asked him right away,
“Oliver, have you seen my combook? Since you had remedial, you were the last to leave the class, right? Did you see it?” “No,
Hendry,” he said, “but I did see Oscar wandering around our class when I was about to leave. I do think that he looked kind of
suspicious, though. He kept avoiding my gaze.” The moment I heard that, I felt both feeling of relief and anger at the same time.
“Thanks a lot Oliver, that is not a clue, that is the ANSWER.” For a note, Oscar is my cousin and the fact that he was there meant
he was planning something bad (again).
I knew exactly where he was at school during that time. I rushed into him and asked a straight question, “Where is my
combook?” With his usual, irritating grin on his face, he said, “I don’t know, why do you ask me?” After I gave him a threat, he
finally confessed and returned the book to me. As I was not satisfied, I reported what had happened to the principal and phoned
his mom. Feeling satisfied, I walked home from school with a wide grin on my face, as though I was the devil himself.

- Place: location, exterior, interior, atmosphere, etc

its texture, crunchiness, color, taste, coldness, etc
