 Study Area
 Islamia College is an educational institution located in
the western part of Peshawar City.
 Islamia College was founded in October 1913 by
Nawab Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum and Sir George
Roose-Keppel.
 The Architectural style of the building is a blend of
Islamic Mughal traditions combined with typical
Curzonean touches.
 The building with its charming figure, embedded by
domes, kiosks toped with Cupolas and Crowing beady
pinnacles and finials, creates a wondering site to the eye
of common man and to the specialist in the discipline of
Architecture

 The conservation project of Islamia College Peshawar
was conceived by the administration of Islamia College
Peshawar and, Archaeology and Museum Department
of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in 2006.
 It is one of the landmark institute with beautiful
aesthetics.

 Rectangular and octagonal shaped columns,

pointed and round shaped arches are main focal
component of Islamia College architecture
 Well-ventilated class rooms and administrative
offices are provided with pointed and ellipse
shape doors, windows and ventilators.

⊷Trees and vegetation are planted everywhere to
conserve natural beauty of the place as well as fresh
oxygen. They are also helpful in combating the
climate change.
⊷Trees serves as a shelter for wildlife and birds.
⊷The aesthetics of the building beautifully managed
along with the greeny impacts positively on mental
health.
⊷The micro-climate around the area is significantly
cooler. Trees provide shade from sun.
⊷The environment around here is kept clean and
green.

 High energy consumption due to low vegetation in the

area in summers.
 No fresh air.
 Excessive air pollution.
 No sitting area to enjoy the nature.
 Building staff not active to conserve natural resources.
 Do not provide healthy environment to the occupants
 Bad smell due excess waste.
