Definition
 Acc to Luthans, “OB is directly concerned with the
understanding, prediction and control of human
behaviour in organizations”.
 Acc to Robbins, “ OB is a field of study that

investigates the impact that individuals, groups,


and structure have on behaviour within
organizations for the purpose of applying such
knowledge towards improving an organization's
effectiveness”
 The above definitions state that OB studies three

elements namely individuals, groups, structure.

 The knowledge of OB helps the mangers know
individual employees better and motivate
employees to work for better results.

Organizational Behaviour Process
 OB is the behaviour of the members of the
organization towards each other, customers,
clients and society at large.
 Here a cause always precedes its effect

E.g. When a manager comes to office after


quarrelling with his wife in the morning may
possibly exhibit unpleasant behaviour like
rebuking for pretty things to his subordinates
Models Of OB
 Autocratic Model
◦ Here the managerial orientation is dictorial.
 Custodial Model
◦ Welfare programmes lead to employee dependence on
the organization.
 Supportive Model
◦ Provides an atmosphere to help employees grow and
accomplish their task successfully.
 Collegial Model
◦ This is an extension of supportive model. The basic
foundation of the collegial model lies on management's
building a feeling of partnership with employees
