Laser vs. Ultrasound

Laser Ultra-Z

 Burning •Emulsification
 Slow •Fast
 Ash •Liquid Status

7
Ultrasound characteristics

• Sound Wave
Sound wave is the energy transmitted from the vibration between mediums.

•Ultrasound
Ultrasound is sound waves which has higher frequency than frequency of human hearing.
Application in Medical Equipment from Diagnostic to HIFU (High Intensity Focused
Ultrasound)

8
Ultrasound characteristics
• Frequency
• Low Frequency 🡪 focus on far distance, low resolution, high power
▪ Ex: Lipolysis equipment

• High Frequency 🡪 focus on near distance, good resolution , low power

▪ Ex: Diagnostic equipment

•Two Wave forms

• Longitudinal wave 🡪 transmit easily in soft tissue (fat, water)
• Transverse wave 🡪 transmit better in solid materials (steel, bone)

11
Why Ultra-Z?

1. Easier Application
• All applications – Face, Body and special application – with various probes
• Delicate application like a face with the thinnest probe(1.2mm) in the world
• Special application like osmidrosis & gynecomastia

2. Safer Solution
• Emulsify only fat with minimal damage of other important tissues
• 3 Less : Less pain, Less bleeding, Less swelling
• Lipo-sculpture in office under local anesthesia

3. Faster Result
• Predictable result by Bubble effect (cavitation)
• Fast recovery due to 3 Less
• Even result and enhanced skin elasticity

12
Why Ultra-Z? Easier Application

• All applications
▪ 1.2 & 1.9 : Face
▪ 2.9 : All body – Abdomen, Osmidrosis, Cankle
▪ 3.7 : Special – Thigh, Gynecomastia

• Face application
▪ The most delicate indication like a face with the
thinnest probe (1.2mm) in the world

• Special application
▪ Osmidrosis & Gynecomastia in fibrous area

13
Why Ultra-Z? Safer Solution

Avulsion Emulsion

 Uneven contouring •Even contouring

 Painful, longer recovery •Less painful
 Surgeon fatigue •Precise sculpting
 Unpredictable result •User-friendly

14
Why Ultra-Z? Safer Solution

Others Ultra-Z

• Emulsify only fat with minimal damage of other important tissues

• 3 Less : Less pain, Less bleeding, Less swelling

• Lipo-sculpture in-office under local anesthesia

15
Why Ultra-Z? Faster Result

Bubble Effect (Cavitation)

• All Ultrasound vibration makes small bubbles only in the fat cell

• The fat cell is maximum expansion by the ultrasound energy

• The fat cell is destroyed as implosion and emulsion.

16
Why Ultra-Z? Faster Result

• Vibrating UAL probe tip generates forces and pressures over a short range sufficient to
fragment cells and disrupt tissue structures.

•Tissue strength determines whether it will be destroyed or not.

•According to the below chart, fat has the least tissue strength in the body in comparison to
Bon
muscle, collagen, bone and Ultrasound energy of Ultra-Z is designed to disrupt only fat
e
based on the tissue strength.

Q&A

Q: Is there bleeding and how about pain?

A: Ultrasound energy make only fat emulsification (bubble effect) without damage of nerve, blood vessel,
muscle and other tissue. So there is much less bleeding and much less pain.
Q: Is there any risk of burn inside?
A: There is no burn in the inner part.
Q: How to prevent burn on incision site?
A: 1. Spreading(Sprinkling) normal saline by syringe on incision site.
2. Using wet gauze on incision site.
3. Using hard type protector.
Q: After surgery, do patients have to wear compression garment?
A: Compression garment is very helpful for more satisfactory result and faster recovery.
Q: Is local anesthesia possible?
A: Bubble effect of Ultra-Z can make local anesthesia because of its fat focused energy(only fat emulsification
without damages of other tissue nerve, blood vessel, muscle).
Q: What is the end point of using Ultra-Z?
A: Guide using time of Ultra-Z is 1min/100cc of tumescent but End point is No resistance of probe.

19
Q&A

Q: Is seroma occurring after Ultra-Z use?

A: No. Traditional Ultrasound equipment has seroma from unnecessary power. But Ultra-Z has efficient power
for fat emulsification without damages of other tissue. But Frictional seroma can be possible if too many
strokes happen in superficial layer.

Q: Is an irregularity happening?
A: Rarely, because Ultra-Z liposculpture use emulsification not avulsion which can make an irregularity.

Q: What is the difference between traditional ultrasound equipment & Ultra-Z?

A: Traditional type has unnecessary power and heat from thick cannula(5mm diameter and hollow type which
can aspirate simultaneously). It makes internal burn and seroma and bad results.
Ultra-Z makes efficient power for only fat focused energy with micro size probe which can be possible for not

only detail area but also special application.

20
Q&A

Q: what is main difference with Laser lipolysis?

A: Laser burns the fat and it makes carbonization.
Ultrasound emulsifies the fat.

Q: Can PAL type equipment use together?

A: Yes, Ultra-Z concentrates 2 layers: superficial layer and middle layer and then aspirate with SAL.
And PAL type can be used in only deep layer which has little effect of bleeding and irregularity.
